Men's Basketball

6038Yunio Barrueta / Barry University / Guard-Forward / Sr. / Miami, Fla.
Barrueta is named SSC Player of the Week for the first time this season after tying a Barry University single game record of 10 three point field goals. In a 98-85 victory over Rollins, Barrueta dropped in 10 of 16 three pointers, nine of which came in the second half. Barrueta tallied 40 points on 14 of 26 shooting and grabbed 13 rebounds, blocked four shots, and had two assists in the victory.  Barrueta's nine second half three point field goals is a Barry record. The double double is his seventh of the year. He becomes just the third Buccaneer to score 40 points in a game. With the play of Barrueta, Barry is now 9-2 overall, 3-1 in SSC play.

Jackson earns his third Defensive Player of the Week honor this season. Jackson registered 20 points, six rebounds, and six blocks in Florida Tech's 101-85 victory on the road at Lynn to help the Panthers improve to 3-1 in the SSC. Earlier in the week against Division I Stetson, the redshirt senior poured in 20 points, eight boards, and five blocks. Collectively over the two games, Jackson connected on 20-of-27 attempts from the field and now leads the league in field goal percentage and blocked shots. Florida Tech is 10-3 overall.

Women's Basketball

6061Ines Kerin / Barry University / Guard / Sr. / Trbovlje, Slovenia
Kerin is awarded Player of the Week after leading Barry to a big conference win over Rollins. Kerin scored 14 second half points, 18 total, as the Buccaneers outpaced the Tars, 82 to 52. Kerin shot 6 of 11 from the field and 4 from 6 beyond the arc. She added four assists, two steals, and two rebounds in the win. Barry moves to 9-3 overall, 3-1 in SSC play.

Johnson is named Defensive Player of the Week following back to back season high minutes, registering 21 against Adelphi and 29 in her first start of the season against Palm Beach Atlantic. Johnson swatted away five blocks, four steals and grabbed 18 rebounds over the two games combined. In a 75-45 loss to Adelphi, Johnson grabbed nine rebounds, six defensive. She also recorded three steals and registered two blocks. In the 66-53 win over PBA, she grabbed nine boards, seven defensive. She also recorded four blocks and a steal. Saint Leo is 4-9 overall, 1-4 in SSC play.
