Maximilian Schulze-Geisthovel / Saint Leo University / Forward / Jr. / Drensteinfurt, Germany
Schulze-Geisthovel scored three goals in Saint Leo's two wins this week, earning him a second Offensive Player of the Week honor. Against University of Tampa, Schulze-Geisthovel scored the opening goal just 42 seconds into play. He also provided the first goal of the second half which was the Lions' third goal of the game. Saint Leo went on to win the game 4-1. In a 4-0 victory at Florida Southern College, Schulze-Geisthovel found the back of the net just over two minutes into the match. He earned his final point of the week with an assist of Brandon Rivera's goal in the 25th minute. Saint Leo now sits at 8-4 overall, 4-2 in SSC play.
James White / Saint Leo University / Goal / Fr. / Porsmouth, England
White is tabbed Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, second consecutive, after a 2-0 week for Saint Leo. White recorded seven saves and allowed a goal in Saint Leo's, 4-1, victory over the University of Tampa. White earned his fourth shutout of the year after stopping five shots in the Lions', 4-0, victory over Florida Southern College in Lakeland. Saint Leo now sits at 8-4 overall, 4-2 in SSC play.
Women's Soccer
McCarthy's pivotal play in a come-from-behind victory earns her the SSC Offensive Player of the Week award. McCarthy scored twice in a 3-1 win over University of Tampa. After falling behind 1-0 in the second half, McCarthy scored the equalizer in the 57th minute on a strike into the upper 90. McCarthy would add insurance in the 85th minute to help hand Tampa its second SSC loss of the year. The three goals scored by FIT tied the most Tampa has allowed in a single game this season. FIT is 9-4-2 on the season, 5-3 in SSC play.
Paula Forero / Barry University / Goal / Jr. / Bogata, Colombia
Forero is named Defensive Player of the Week after posting six saves in a pair of Barry wins. Against Nova Southeastern University, Forero stopped four shots and secured the shutout victory. The 2-0 win over NSU locked Barry into the No. 1 seed for the SSC postseason tournament. In non-conference play, Barry defeated Palm Beach Atlantic University. In 81 minutes in goal, Forero stopped two PBA shots and allowed one goal. Barry is 11-2-1 overall and finished SSC play at 6-1-1.
Swimming
Jesus Marin / Florida Southern College / Sr. / Cumana, Venezuela
Marin had one first-place finish and one second-place finish as an individual swimmer in a dual meet win at Florida Institute of Technology. Marin swam the Moccasins' only NCAA "B" qualifying time by winning the 200-freestyle in 1:40.80 with more than a three-second margin. He was also second in the 100-freestyle to teammate Diego Gimenez by 0.11 seconds and helped Florida Southern's top 200-freestyle relay team finish second by four-tenths of a second.
Kelsey Gouge / Florida Southern College / Sr. / Snellville, Ga.
Kelsey Gouge reached the 50-win plateau of her college career by picking up two individual wins in Florida Southern's dual meet victory over Florida Institute of Technology. Gouge was victorious in both of the sprint events (50 and 100-freestyle), and helped the Moccasins score the maximum number of points in each of those races. She also anchored their top 200-medley relay team in its victory as the finished more than 3.5 seconds ahead of Florida Tech.
