HOOVER, Ala. - Sunshine State Conference volleyball teams won 27 of 33 matches against Gulf South Conference teams during the 2022 South Regional Crossover this past weekend. The event matched all 11 SSC members against teams from the Gulf South Conference on October 14th and 15th at the Finley Center in Hoover, Alabama.
SSC teams won 12 of 15 matches on Friday, October 14th, and then took 15 of 18 on Saturday, October 15th. Fourteen of the SSC's 27 victories came in just three sets. Eckerd College, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Florida Tech, Lynn University, Rollins College, Saint Leo University, and the University of Tampa went 3-0 during the event. The SSC has won 178 of the 231 (.771) South Region Crossover matches since the competition began in 2015.
Eleven SSC student-athletes were named to the 2022 South Region Crossover All-Tournament Team. Lynn's Nadia Lindner and Tampa's Claudia Rivera repeat as Crossover Team honorees from 2021.
SSC regular season play resumes on Tuesday, October 18th, and concludes on Sunday, November 13th. The 2022 SSC regular-season champion will have an automatic qualifier to the NCAA South Regional, which begins on Thursday, November 17th, at non-predetermined sites. The finals will be held from Thursday, December 1st, to Saturday, December 3rd, at the Royal Brougham Pavilion in Seattle.
