SSC Wins 23 of 33 Matches at the 2017 South Region Volleyball Crossover
HOOVER, Ala. – Sunshine State Conference volleyball teams took 23 of 33 matches from the Gulf South Conference during the 2017 South Regional Crossover this past weekend. The event matched the SSC’s 11 members against teams from the Gulf South Conference on October 13th and 14th at the Finley Center.
SSC teams went a combined 10 and 5 on Friday, October 13th and then took 13 of the 18 matches on Saturday, October 14th. Nine of the SSC’s 23 victories came in just three sets. Palm Beach Atlantic University, Eckerd College, Florida Southern College, Florida Tech, the University of Tampa, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University went 3-0 during the event. The SSC has won 78 of the 99 South Region Crossover matches since the event began in 2015.
The South Region Crossover Tournament Team consisted of nine SSC student-athletes. Anna Tovo of Florida Southern repeats as an all-tournament team selection from last year.
SSC regular season play concludes on Saturday, November 18th and NCAA Division-II Volleyball Regionals begin on Thursday, November 30th at non-predetermined sites. The finals will be held Thursday, December 7th - Saturday, December 9th at the University of West Florida Field House in Pensacola.
