2022 SSC vs. GSC South Region Volleyball Crossover

MELBOURNE, Fla. - All eleven Sunshine State Conference teams will compete against the Gulf South Conference members during the two-day South Region Volleyball Crossover. The event, currently in its seventh year, will take place at the Finley Center in Hoover, Alabama, on October 14th and 15th.

Twenty-four teams will compete in the crossover, 12 from the Gulf South, 11 from the SSC, and Spring Hill College of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will serve as the second No. 12 seed. The crossover's 36 matchups are based on conference seeding, with the Top-8 SSC teams guaranteed three games against Top-8 Gulf South squads.

 

Since the event began in 2015, the SSC has won 151 of the 198 (.763), including 24 of 33 last year in Winter Haven, Florida. The event will feature three teams ranked in the latest AVCA Top 25 poll (No. 4 Tampa, No. 13 West Florida, No. 17 Barry, RV Lynn) and eight teams from the 2021 NCAA South Region Championship. The Buccaneers and Argonauts are slated to play in an 8:00 PM match on Day 2.

 

So far in 2022, there have been five meetings between teams from each conference, with the Sunshine State Conference holding the 3-2 advantage. Saint Leo bested Montevallo, Tampa and Saint Leo defeated Lee, and Mississippi College took down Rollins and Florida Tech.

 

Fans who plan to attend are able to purchase tickets online through ETix and will have the option to purchase either a daily pass ($10) or a weekend pass ($15). Those unable to watch in person will be able to live stream all the matches exclusively through BallerTV with a paid subscription. A full listing of this year's matchups is located below.

2021 - SSC teams won 11 of 15 matches on Friday, October 22nd, and then took 13 of 18 on Saturday, October 23rd. Seventeen of the SSC's 24 victories came in just three sets, while the remaining seven came in four sets. Barry University, Palm Beach Atlantic University, and the University of Tampa went 3-0 during the event.
