TUSCON, Ariz. - Three teams and 23 student-athletes from the Sunshine State Conference have been recognized by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper prior to the 2020 season.
The University of Tampa paces the SSC, and the country, as the No. 1 team in the Collegiate Baseball Newsletter's preseason ranking. The Joe Urso led Spartans grab the top spot after winning the 2019 NCAA Division II title. Nova Southeastern University earns the No. 16 ranking following an NCAA South Region Tournament appearance last season. The Sharks recently announced a new head coach in
Laz Gutierrez. Rounding out the SSC teams in the CBN Top-40 is Florida Southern College at No. 30. Lance Niekro's squad intends to improve upon a 23-27 record from last season and rejoin the regional ranks. Eckerd College, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Florida Tech, and Lynn University are receiving voted in the Poll.
