2019 SSC vs. GSC South Region Volleyball Crossover

October 18th & 19th in Hoover, Alabama

MELBOURNE, Fla. - All eleven Sunshine State Conference teams will compete against members of the Gulf South Conference during the two-day South Region Volleyball Crossover. The event, currently in its fifth year, will take place at the Finley Center in Hoover, Alabama, on October 18th and 19th.

Twenty-four teams will compete in the crossover, 12 from the Gulf South, 11 from the SSC, and Spring Hill College of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will serve as the second No. 12 seed. The crossover's 36 matchups are based on conference seeding, with the Top-8 SSC teams guaranteed three games against Top-8 Gulf South squads.

Since the event began in 2015, the SSC has won 102 of the 132 matches (.773), including 24 of 33 last year in Orlando. A full listing of this year's matchups is located below. For tickets and other information, please visit the 2019 South Region Volleyball Crossover Page.

Barry, Tampa, and West Florida are receiving votes in the October 14th edition of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25. The Buccaneers and Argonauts are slated to play in a 12:15 PM match on Day 2. So far in 2019, there have been 11 meetings between teams from each conference, with the Sunshine State Conference holding the 7-4 advantage. There will also be three rematches at this year's crossover from games played earlier this season: Rollins vs. Shorter (RC 3, SU 0 - 9/7), Lynn vs. Alabama-Huntsville (UAH 3, Lynn 1 - 9/14), and Florida Southern vs. Lee (FSC 3, Lee 1 - 9/14).

2018 - SSC teams won 11 of 15 matches on Friday, October 19th and then took 13 of 18 on Saturday, October 20th. Thirteen of the SSC's 24 victories came in just three sets. Barry University, Eckerd College, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Florida Southern College, Palm Beach Atlantic University, and the University of Tampa went 3-0 during the event.
