2022-23 All-SSC Women's Swimming Teams Announced
MELBOURNE, Fla. - Seventeen student-athletes have been selected to the 2022-23 All-SSC Women's Swimming Team. Voting for the team was conducted among the Sunshine State Conference women's swimming coaches.
Nova Southeastern University, the 2023 SSC women's champion, boasts nine honorees, including four First Team award winners. Florida Southern College, Lynn University, Rollins College, and the University of Tampa are also represented in this year's league awards.
SSC Records / Top Times | All-SSC Teams
The NSU duo of Savanna Best and May Lowy, along with Luna Mertins of Lynn, highlight the repeat All-SSC selections 2022-23 All-SSC First Team Selections. All three swimmers repeat as First Team honorees from 2021-22. Additionally, Mertins was named the 2021-22 Freshman of the Year. Second Team honoree Sasha Maslova from NSU repeats as All-SSC for the fourth consecutive season. The senior was named First Team in 2021-22, 2019-20, and 2018-19. Maslova was also selected Freshman of the Year in 2018-19. A total of eight women’s swimmers repeat as All-SSC in 2022-23.
First Team award winner, Emily Trieschmann from Nova Southeastern, was recently named the top female athlete at the 2023 SSC Championship. She is the fifth Shark to win the conference's Swimmer of the Meet honor and the second consecutive winner from NSU's program.
Coach of the Year, Swimmer of the Year, and Freshman of the Year will be voted on by league coaches following the NCAA Division II championship March 8th - Saturday, March 11th, at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis, Indiana.
