Danner Named Assistant Commissioner for Strategic Communications of the SSC
ORLANDO, Fla. – Sunshine State Conference Commissioner
Chris Graham has announced the appointment of
Eric Danner as Assistant Commissioner for Strategic Communications, effective on July 1.
Danner brings more than 20 years of experience in collegiate athletics administration, communications, broadcasting and conference operations to the Sunshine State Conference. He joins the SSC after serving in leadership communications roles at the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), where he helped oversee the conference’s strategic communications efforts, digital content initiatives, broadcasting, championship coverage and media relations.
“We are excited to welcome Eric to the Sunshine State Conference,” said Graham. “His extensive background in athletic communications, storytelling, digital media and conference administration makes him an outstanding addition to our team. Eric has a proven track record of elevating the visibility of student-athletes and member institutions, and we look forward to the impact he will have on the SSC.”
As Assistant Commissioner for Strategic Communications, Danner will oversee the conference’s communications and media relations efforts, including championship publicity, awards programs, statistics and records management, social media strategy, website content, broadcasting and digital storytelling initiatives. He will also work closely with member institutions to enhance the visibility of SSC student-athletes, coaches and programs across multiple platforms.

Danner’s career includes leadership positions at the NCAA DII level where he spent more than a decade at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), developing communications strategies, managing broadcast and digital content production and coordinating championship events. Throughout his career, he has earned recognition for his commitment to promoting student-athlete achievement and advancing collegiate athletics through effective communication and storytelling.

Founded in 1975, The Sunshine State Conference (SSC) is an NCAA Division II athletic conference with all member institutions located in Florida. Nicknamed the "Conference of National Champions", the SSC sponsors 21 sports and features 11 universities. In 2025-26 SSC schools won a record nine NCAA DII national team championships. It is known just as much for its academic success, regularly leading all Division II conferences in the NCAA Academic Success Rate (ASR).
