Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of March 30 - April 5, 2026. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.

Baseball Player of the Week
Luis Garrido, Eckerd College
Senior - Outfielder - Palmetto, Florida
Garrido hit .400 (6-for-15) in a sweep of Palm Beach Atlantic, recording two home runs, five runs, a double, and six runs batted in. He highlighted the week with a walk-off grand slam in game two of the series. Garrido also posted a perfect fielding percentage.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Aidan Kelley, Florida Southern College
Senior - Pitcher - Lakeland, Florida
Kelley anchored Florida Southern on the mound with two clutch performances against Tampa and Valdosta State. In an upset win over Tampa, he entered in the eighth with bases loaded and preserved a 2-1 lead with back-to-back outs, then struck out the side in the ninth to secure the save and hand Tampa its first conference loss. Kelley also secured a win earlier in the week late in the game against Valdosta State, allowing no runs while striking out two in the final frame.
Softball Player of the Week
Vivian Billard, Barry University
Freshman - Outfielder/Pitcher - Mooresville, North Carolina
Billard led the Bucs to a 5-0 record, including a sweep of Lynn. She hit .529 (9-for-17) with eight runs batted in, seven runs scored, and a 1.118 slugging percentage, highlighted by six extra-base hits and two home runs. Billard also earned a win in the circle with a career-high six strikeouts against Edward Waters.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Brandilyn Reymer, Eckerd College
Senior - Pitcher - Ashland, Ohio
Reymer led the Tritons to two wins over the weekend against Palm Beach Atlantic. In her first appearance, she threw a one-hit shutout with nine strikeouts, and followed with 10 strikeouts and just five hits in her second start. This marks the fifth weekly honor of the season for Reymer.
Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
Rex Kesselring, University of Tampa
Junior - Attacker - Pittsford, New York
Kesselring’s offensive efforts were pivotal over the course of Tampa’s undefeated week. He opened the week by scoring four goals with an assist in the road win at Palm Beach Atlantic, and followed that by adding two goals. Kesselring also picked up a total of five ground balls.
Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
Jax Francisco, Florida Tech
Redshirt Senior - Goalkeeper - Westminster, Maryland
Francisco held the Panthers’ defense down between the posts in Florida Tech’s 2-0 week. Against Rollins, he notched a 20 save game, limiting the Tars to just six points, while also picking up five ground balls. Francisco followed that against Saint Leo by recording 11 saves. This is his third weekly honor of the season.
Men’s Lacrosse Specialist of the Week
Jacob Czyz, Florida Southern College
Senior - Faceoff - Baldwinsville, New York
In the Mocs win over Lynn, Czyz found success in the faceoff circle, winning 20 of 24 (.833) faceoff attempts, while also scooping up a match-high 12 ground balls and adding a goal. Czyz currently leads the NCAA in ground balls per game and is second in face-off winning percentage. This is his third weekly honor of the season and 11th overall.
Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
Holly Hill, Saint Leo University
Senior - Attacker - Fairfax, Virginia
Hill opened the week with one goal and six assists in the Lions’ win over Florida Tech, and followed that with a four-goal, nine-assist performance against Palm Beach Atlantic. The Division II point leader tied the conference single-game points record with 13, while setting a new single-season points program record with 90.
Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
Isabella Avila, University of Tampa
Senior - Defense - Worthington, Ohio
In the Spartans’ .500 week, Avila tied a program record for most caused turnovers with six in the road win at Rollins, while also adding seven draw controls and three ground balls. While at Florida Southern, she added another caused turnover and recorded three draw controls and three ground balls. This is Avila’s second weekly honor of her career.
Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Onur Turgut, Florida Southern College
Senior - Ankara, Turkey
Turgut played a key role in a 6-1 win over Lincoln Memorial, helping clinch both the doubles point and match. He teamed with George Russell for a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles, then secured the team victory with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles.
Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Salma Djoubri, Lynn University
Senior - Caudebec Les Elbeuf, France
Djoubri turned in a strong performance to lead Lynn to a win over Eckerd with dominant performances in doubles and singles. She earned a 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles with Kristen Younes, then secured a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles. This is Djoubri’s third weekly honor.
Men’s Golfer of the Week
Eduardo Matarazzo, Barry University
Freshman - São Paulo, Brazil
Matarazzo finished second and was the top conference finisher at the Battle of the Lakes at -9 with a total score of 207 (70-70-67), marking his third top-3 finish of the season. He posted 15 birdies, played 48 of 54 holes at par or better, and was the only Buccaneer to finish under par. This is Matarazzo’s second weekly honor of the spring season and his third overall.
Women’s Golfer of the Week
Youyang Li, Rollins College
Freshman - Wuhan, China
Li captured the individual title at the Lynn Invitational, topping a 74-player field. After sitting four-over through two rounds, she surged with a career-best 67 (-5) in the final round to jump from 20th into a tie for first at 3-under par, earning the trophy with the tournament’s top round.
Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week
Hailey Wolfe, University of Tampa
Senior - York, Pennsylvania
Nevaeh Wolfe, University of Tampa
Senior - York, Pennsylvania
The Wolfe twins produced a victory at the Tampa Beach Volleyball Complex over Florida Southern in straight sets, 21-10, 31-29 to cap off the regular season. This is the twins’ third weekly honor of the season and eighth overall.
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week
Cameron Basden, Barry University
Sophomore - 100-meter/200-meter dashes - Hamilton, Bermuda
Basden tied the school record in the 200-meter dash with a personal-best 21.55, the third-fastest time in the league this season and the top mark among Division II finishers. He also posted a personal-best 10.63 in the 100-meter, ranking fourth in the SSC and placing second among NCAA Division II competitors.
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Distance Athlete of the Week
Nicholas Scarangelli, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
Junior - 1,500-meter run - Ocean City, New Jersey
Scarangelli delivered a strong 1,500-meter and 10,000-meter double, competing in both events on the same day. He placed second in the 1500-meter with a time of 3:48.40 in a field of 95 competitors, then went on to win the 10,000-meter in 31:50.53.
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week
Sativa James, Nova Southeastern University
Junior - 400-meter dash - West Palm Beach, Florida
James turned in a standout performance at the Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic, winning the 400-meter dash in 55.83. Her time ranks top three in Nova Southeastern program history.
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Distance Athlete of the Week
Taylor Roth, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
Junior - 800-meter - Minster, Ohio
Roth won the 800-meter run at the Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic, topping a field of 63 competitors with a time of 2:10.72, an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark. This is Roth’s second consecutive weekly honor and the third of her career.
Women’s Rowing Boat of the Week
Varsity 4+, Nova Southeastern University
Nova Southeastern delivered a strong performance at the regatta, highlighted by a first-place finish from its Women’s Varsity 4+ crew. The group posted a winning adjusted time of 7:48.920, edging UCO by over two seconds. Coxswain Chrysta Snair led the crew of Margianna Petridi, Jordan Maruskin, Lucia Allen, and Gianna Middleton.
