Founded in 1975, Sunshine State Conference member institutions have won a total of 138 NCAA national championships across 15 sports and boast an NCAA Division II leading 89% Academic Success Rate. In 2025-26, the SSC marks its 50th anniversary, reflecting on a proud history of athletic and academic excellence.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference concluded its second-ever track championship Saturday, April 25. The two-day event brought together student-athletes from 10 institutions to compete for team and individual titles.
Team Champions Crowned
Tampa’s women showcased impressive depth in the hurdle events, scoring 49 combined points in the 100m and 400m hurdles. On the men’s side, Zachary Kehler won the 1500m, 5000m and 800m to help propel the Spartans to their first SSC track team title.

Female Athlete of the Meet: Michala Daniels, Embry-Riddle – Daniels was dominant winning the 100m hurdles, 100m, 200m, and 4x100m.

Male Athlete of the Meet: Zachary Kehler, Tampa – Kehler was dominant in the distance events winning the 800m, 1500m, and a pivotal 5000m.

Female Freshman of the Meet: Jahkya Miller, Barry – Miller placed sixth in the 100m hurdles and the 100m, seventh in the 200m, and was a member of the winning 4x400 team.

Male Freshman of the Meet: Luke Richardson, Embry-Riddle – Richardson scored 25 points for the Eagles, winning individual titles in the 100m and 200m, while also running a leg in the winning 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams.
