Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of March 23 - 29, 2026. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.

Baseball Player of the Week
Jorge DeGoti, Nova Southeastern University
Senior - Infielder - Miami, Florida
DeGoti put together a huge four-game stretch out of the two-hole to help power Nova Southeastern to a 4-0 week. Across the wins over Barry and Palm Beach Atlantic, DeGoti finished with a 9-for-18 (.500) line, adding 7 runs scored, 3 RBI, 3 doubles, 2 walks, and 2 stolen bases.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Noah Greenseid, Rollins College
Redshirt Sophomore - Pitcher - Coral Springs, Florida
Greenseid delivered a strong performance in his Friday start against Lynn University. He retired the first 12 batters he faced and worked out of a one-out, bases-loaded situation in the fifth inning. He finished with 8.0 innings pitched, allowing two hits (both singles) and two walks while striking out six on 103 pitches. He recorded perfect innings in the first, second, third, fourth, sixth, and eighth.
Softball Player of the Week
Hannah Taylor, Eckerd College
Junior - Utility - Brookesville, Florida
Taylor went 5-for-7 (.714) with 10 RBI in a three-game sweep over Barry University. She drove in eight runs in game one, highlighted by a grand slam. Taylor also added three doubles, drew five walks (including one intentional), a stolen base and four runs scored during the series. She also tied the Eckerd single-season record with 17 doubles. This is Taylor’s third weekly honor of the season and fifth in her career.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Gwen McGinnis, University of Tampa
Senior - Pitcher - Tallahassee, Florida
McGinnis recorded a strong weekend in the circle, totaling 16.1 innings pitched with 22 strikeouts through a 2-1 record in her three appearances against Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. She allowed just seven hits and two runs (one earned) while not issuing a walk. Her opponents had a .123 batting average through her appearances. This is McGinnis’ fifth weekly honor of her career.
Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
Parker Kane, Florida Tech
Redshirt Freshman - Attacker - Jacksonville, Florida
Kane’s offensive play was pivotal in Florida Tech’s win against Lynn. He scored a career-high four goals and added an assist to help the Panthers push past the Knights, 20-6.
Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
Steve Ulrichs, Florida Tech
Redshirt Senior - Defense - Richmond, Virginia
Ulrichs’ defensive efforts were crucial for Florida Tech in their win over Lynn, 20-6. He recorded four caused turnovers, and picked up five ground balls. Ulrich also scored two goals off two forced turnovers. This marks his third weekly honor of the season.
Men’s Lacrosse Specialist of the Week
MP Thomas, University of Tampa
Graduate Student - Faceoff - Roswell, Georgia
Thomas delivered a near perfect performance in the faceoff circle in a 16-6 road victory over Embry-Riddle. He went 12-for-13 (.923) on faceoffs and collected five ground balls, helping secure the program’s second SSC win of the season. This is Thomas’ second weekly honor on the season.
Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
Jenna Vetter, Florida Southern College
Junior - Attacker - Ellicott City, Maryland
Vetter led the Mocs to a 2-0 start in SSC play with wins over Saint Leo University (15-14, 2OT) and Lynn (10-6). She scored a career-high nine goals against the Lions, tying the program’s single-game record. Vetter followed with three goals and an assist against Lynn to close the week.
Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
Isabella Avila, University of Tampa
Senior - Defense - Worthington, Ohio
Avila had a strong week in the Spartans’ two conference matchups. She recorded seven draw controls, three caused turnovers, two ground balls, and an assist in a 14–13 loss to Lynn. Against Florida Tech, Avila set a career-high with 13 draw controls. She also added five caused turnovers, four ground balls, and an assist in the 17–12 win.
Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Batu Atasaven, Eckerd College
Senior - Istanbul, Turkey
Atasaven went 2-0 at both No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles. He earned a 6-4 doubles win and a 6-2, 6-0 singles victory vs. Union University, followed by a 6-3 doubles win and a 6-3, 6-1 singles win vs. Franklin Pierce University.
Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Noemie Dadoun, Nova Southeastern University
Sophomore - Cannes, France
Dadoun turned in a strong all-around performance for the Sharks in a two-match stretch against ranked conference opponents. She went a combined 4-0 in doubles and singles, and helped Nova Southeastern rebound from a loss to Florida Southern with a 7-0 win over Eckerd.
Men’s Golfer of the Week
Colton Swartz, Florida Southern College
Junior - Fleming Island, Florida
Swartz captured the individual title, marking his first win of the season and third of his career. He opened with rounds of 66 and 67 to lead the field, including a bogey-free first round with five birdies. He followed with scored of 69 to close the Shark Invitational with a season-low 202 (-11). This is Swartz first weekly honor of the season and third of his career.
Women’s Golfer of the Week
Abby Smith, Palm Beach Atlantic University
Freshman - Port St. Lucie, Florida
Smith finished third at the Greenwood Women’s Invitational, hosted by Lander. The freshman shot 2-under 70 on the opening day to help lead the field, and followed that by shooting an even 72. On the last round, Smith shot a 79, to give her a final score of 221 (+5).
Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week
Paige Reeves, Saint Leo University
Junior - Wausau, Wisconsin
Abby VanBuskirk, Saint Leo University
Graduate Student - Fenton, Missouri
Reeves and VanBuskirk went a perfect 5-0 at the No. 5 position, helping lead Saint Leo to an 4-1 week in team play. The duo earned wins over St. Johns River State College, Eckerd, Missouri State University, and Lake-Sumter State College (twice).
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week
Luke Richardson, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
Freshman - 100-meter/200-meter dashes - Bethel, Connecticut
Richardson placed fourth in the 100- and 200-meter dashes at the UCF Knights Invitational, running 10.18 and 20.96, respectively. Both marks met the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standards and set Embry-Riddle program records. He ranks as No. 3 nationally in the 100-meter and No. 9 in the 200-meter in Division II following the weekend.
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Distance Athlete of the Week
Zach Kehler, University of Tampa
Senior - 1,500-meter run - Austin, Texas
Kehler posted the fastest 1,500-meter time in the conference this week, running 3:50.8 at the WashU Invitational in St. Louis. He narrowly missed an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark with the performance.
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week
Allison Murphy, University of Tampa
Senior - 100-meter/400-meter hurdles - Naugatuck, Connecticut
Murphy improved her national ranking in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.43 at the UCF Knights Invitational and posted a sub-15 second mark in the 100-meter hurdles of 14.97. This is her second weekly award of the season and third of her career.
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Distance Athlete of the Week
Taylor Roth, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
Junior - 800-meter/1,500-meter - Minster, Ohio
Roth ran in the invite sections of the 800- and 1,500-meter runs at the UCF Knights Invitational. She ran 2:11.25 in the 800 to place fifth overall and earn an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark. Roth also ran the 1,500-meter in 4:36.33 to finish sixth overall to round out the meet with two top 10 finishes. This is Roth’s second weekly honor of her career.
Women’s Rowing Boat of the Week
Varsity 8+, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
Embry-Riddle’s Varsity 8+ won its only race at the Sarasota 2K on Saturday, finishing first in a seven-boat field. The Eagles crossed in 7:47.82 to defeat Rollins, Florida Tech, and Nova Southeastern. The crew included Aria Moses, Abby Webb, Reagan Hurt, Soleil Edwards, Lauren Hoffman, Gracie Thompson, Anna Martin, Reese Franqueiro, and Jolee Paulk.
