Athletes of the Week | March 16 - 22

Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of March 16 - 22, 2026. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.

Baseball Player of the Week

Jalen Smith, Barry University 

Junior  - Infielder - Tampa, Florida

Smith led the Bucs to a series win against Saint Leo, recording four doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI in the three-game road series. He posted a 1.286 slugging percentage, tallying multiple hits in each game. Both of his home runs came in game two, one in the first inning and the other in the seventh, accounting for four runs in the Bucs’ 7-5 win.


Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Grady Bivens, Eckerd College 

Junior  - Pitcher - Marietta, Georgia

Bivens earned his sixth win of the season, remaining undefeated with a 10-0 shutout victory over Florida Southern College. In seven innings, he recorded 10 strikeouts, allowed just four hits and did not surrender a run. He also posted a perfect fielding percentage with one putout.


Softball Player of the Week

Ella Coiner, Eckerd College

Senior - Utility - Bradenton, Florida

Coiner went 5-for-7 (.714) at the plate in a three-game sweep of Florida Southern, while launching three home runs and driving in six RBI. She added a triple and drew three walks, including two intentional. This marks Coiner’s second weekly honor of the season and third overall. 

 

Softball Pitcher of the Week

Brandilyn Reymer, Eckerd College 

Senior - Pitcher - Ashland, Ohio 

Reymer earned two wins in a three-game sweep of Florida Southern, recording 19 strikeouts over 14 innings innings while allowing just two runs. She opened the series with seven strikeouts and a 4-1 win, before striking out 12 batters and leading the Tritons to a 2-1 victory the following day. This marks Reymer’s fourth weekly honor of the season. 


Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week

Eric Burbank, University of Tampa

Graduate Student - Attacker - Newton, Connecticut

Burbank was a pivotal piece in Tampa’s 14-7 conference-opening win over Florida Southern. He recorded three goals and three assists, tying a game best in goals and leading all players in assists. 
 

Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week

Jax Francisco, Florida Tech  

Redshirt Senior - Goalkeeper - Westminster, Maryland

In the win against No. 18 Embry-Riddle, Francisco recorded a season-high 16 saves and added one ground ball against the Eagles. It marked his sixth game this season holding opponents under double-digit goals and his first consecutive game doing so. This marks Francisco’s second weekly honor of the season. 

 

Men’s Lacrosse Specialist of the Week

Brady Greco, Rollins College 

Junior - Faceoff - Raleigh, North Carolina

Greco’s efforts in the faceoff circle were pivotal for the Tars in an undefeated week with wins over Maryville University and Lynn University. He opened the week by going 10-for-17 at the X against Maryville and followed with a 19-for-23 performance against the Knights. This marks Greco’s fourth weekly honor of the season and his second consecutive.


Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week

Madison Smith, Lynn University 

Freshman - Attacker - Sykesville, Maryland

Smith led the Knights in a 17-1 win over Montevallo University, recording five goals and three assists while converting five of her six shots on goal. She contributed in all four quarters and added two ground balls and a caused turnover. 
 

Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week

Jessica Harclerode, Saint Leo University 

Senior - Goalkeeper - Sayville, New York

Harclerode anchored the Lions between the sticks, totaling 21 saves across 120 minutes in a 1-1 week. She opened with 12 saves and five ground balls in a win at Pace University, then added nine saves, three ground balls and a caused turnover at Mercy University. This is Harclerode’s eighth weekly honor of her career and second of the season. 


Men’s Tennis Player of the Week

Kodai Kato, Saint Leo University 

Junior - Ichikawa, Chiba, Japan

Kato went 3-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles to help lead Saint Leo to three wins. He earned two straight-set singles victories and clinched an SSC win against Lynn. In doubles, Kato and Jose David Segovia picked up two ranked wins at No. 1, defeating top pairs from Wayne State College and Flagler College.


Women’s Tennis Player of the Week

Viktoriia Dema, Barry University 

Junior - Kyiv, Ukraine 

Dema went 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles during a 4-0 week for Barry. She earned a conference singles win against Rollins as the Buccaneers faced three ranked NCAA Division II opponents and an NAIA top-15 program (Wayne State, Valdosta State University, and Savannah College of Art and Design Atlanta). This is Dema’s second weekly honor of the season and third of her career. 


Men’s Golfer of the Week

Reggie Fear, Eckerd College

Sophomore - Surrey, England

At the Bobcat Invitational last week, Fear tied for second place at 1-under (69-70). He later moved to No. 1 in the individual rankings according to Clippd. This marks Fear’s third weekly honor, second in 2025-26 season and first this spring. 


Women’s Golfer of the Week

Tereza Zavrelova, Barry University

Junior - Drasov, Czech Republic

Zavrelova earned her first career win at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational, shooting 145 (70-75) in the weather-shortened event. She led the field on par-4s (-1) and tied for the most birdies (seven) and fewest bogeys, on her way to helping the Bucs to their second win in three weeks. This is Zavrelova’s third weekly honor of the year and first this spring. 


Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week

Sydney Corbett, Palm Beach Atlantic University

Sophomore - Port St. Lucie, Florida

Katelyn Nadeau, Palm Beach Atlantic University

Junior - Lake Worth, Florida

Corbett and Nadeau excelled at the No. 3 pair for the Sailfish, going 5-1 on the week. After pushing Nebraska to three sets, they earned a straight-set win over Tampa (21-13, 21-15) before going undefeated over the weekend with four wins against Eckerd, Tusculum University, Florida Southern and Division I Lindenwood University. This is Nadeau’s second weekly honor of the season. 


Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week

Joshua Warren, Saint Leo University

Junior - 110-meter/400-meter hurdles - Orlando, Florida

Warren competed in a deep field at the USF Alumni Invitational against Division I and II competitors. He ran 15.25 in the 110-meter hurdles, and 55.46 in the 400-meter hurdles. Warren currently stands as the sixth fastest freshman in Division II in the 400-meter hurdles. 

 

Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Distance Athlete of the Week

Cole Summers, Florida Southern College

Junior - 10,000-meter run - Gulfport, Florida

Summers won the 10,000m at the UCF Black and Gold Challenge in a deep field of Division I and II competitors, crossing in 29:57.47 to set a new facility record at the UCF Soccer and Track Complex. He became just the third Florida Southern runner to break 30 minutes in the event. This is Summers’ second weekly honor of the season. 


Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week

Dackjerlin Senior Feliz, Saint Leo University

Freshman - 400-meter/800-meter dash - Lake Wales, Florida

Senior Feliz competed at the USF Alumni Invitational against Division I and II competitiors. She ran a personal best of 58.97 in the 400-meter dash before switching to the 800-meter run, finishing in 2:15.88.
 

Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Distance Athlete of the Week

Hannah Diete, University of Tampa

Sophomore - 1,500-meter run - Chicago, Illinois

Diete set a new school record in the 1,500-meter run at the USF Alumni Invitational, finishing in 4:28.53. The mark met the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard and moved her to No. 1 in the conference and No. 3 in the nation.
