Nova Southeastern Claims Fourth-Straight Women’s Swimming National Championship

SSC boasts the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the nation.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Nova Southeastern University women's swimming won the 2026 NCAA Division II Women's Swimming National Championship, totaling 486 points. The University of Tampa followed the Sharks in second with 424.5, and Lynn University finished 14th with 116 points.

Nova Southeastern's win was fueled by eight gold medals, five silver and two bronze. Kristina Orban solidified herself as one of the nation's best swimmers by capturing six first-place finishes across the week. In total, Nova Southeastern had seven other competitors record first-place finishes: Hailey Williams (1), Emilia Ronningdal (3), Zsofia Kurdi (3), Maxine Enger (2), Maya Esparza (3), Hannah Montgomery (1) and Mollie Morfelt (1).

Orban won the 100-yard freestyle in 49.34, the 200-yard freestyle in 1:46.34, the 100-yard butterfly in 52.79, the 200-yard freestyle relay with a split of 22.10 and total time of 1:29.03, the 800-yard freestyle relay with a split of 1:45.74 and total time of 7:08.52, and the 200-yard medley relay with a butterfly split of 23.10 and final time of 1:37.95. In the 200-yard freestyle and medley relays, she was part of the squads that set two new national records alongside Zsofia Kurdi, Maxine Enger, Maya Esparza, Mollie Morfelt and Hannah Montgomery. The Sharks' 400-yard freestyle relay team of Ronningdal, Esparza, Enger and Kurdi set a new national record with a time of 3:17.37.

Tampa, the national runner-up, had six podium finishes, led by Burley Bokos, who won the 400-yard individual medley by two seconds ahead of the rest of the field with a time of 4:14.09. Lynn was led by Lydia Douthit and Luz Tapia, who scored 26 and 23 points, respectively.
