Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of February 16 - 22, 2026. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.

Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Jah Nze, Rollins College
Senior - Guard - Apopka, Florida
Nze led the Tars in scoring during their home games last week against, averaging 26 points. He opened the week against the Bucs by totaling 27 points while adding five rebounds and three assists. He closed the week facing the Sailfish where he scored 25 points with four rebounds and three assists.
Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week
Greyson Williams, Florida Tech
Freshman - Guard - Nolansville, Tennessee
Williams was a pivotal piece in Florida Tech’s defensive efforts, helping keep the Panthers close in two competitive conference matchups. He opened the week with six steals against Florida Southern, adding four rebounds and 14 points. He followed with four steals against Barry University, along with four rebounds and 26 points.
Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Sydney Gomes, Florida Southern College
Senior - Guard - Ponte Vedra, Florida
Gomes led the conference and the Mocs offensively, averaging 27.5 points per game during an undefeated week. She opened the week against Florida Tech with 28 points, along with seven assists, six rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Later in the week against Tampa, she totaled 27 points, adding four assists and six rebounds. This marks Gomes’ fifth weekly honor of the 2025-26 season and sixth of her career.
Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week
Jaylen Ostenson, Eckerd College
Junior - Guard - New Castle, Wyoming
Ostenson led the Tritons’ defensive charge through their lone matchup of the week against Saint Leo University. She tallied six steals and five blocks against the Lions, while adding four rebounds, five assists, and 11 points.
Baseball Player of the Week
Marcello Cortale, Florida Tech
Freshman - Outfield - The Villages, Florida
Cortale played a pivotal role in the Panthers’ weekend sweep of Palm Beach Atlantic, posting a .500 batting average with four home runs, nine RBIs and a stolen base. He hit a home run in three consecutive plate appearances in the weekend opener in his first SSC series.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Jack Ensell, Barry University
Sophomore - Pitcher - Jacksonville, Florida
Ensell tossed six scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out 14 as the Bucs won the series opener 2-0 against Nova Southeastern University. His 14 strikeouts rank as the fourth most in school history and the most per inning in a game (2.33 strikeouts per inning).
Softball Player of the Week
Ella Coiner, Eckerd College
Senior - Utility - Bradenton, Florida
During Eckerd’s three-game series against Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Coiner batted .583 in the sweep. She recorded seven runs batted in, along with two triples and a home run. Coiner also had a perfect fielding percentage, recording zero errors. This marks Coiner’s second weekly honor of her career.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Brandilyn Reymer, Eckerd College
Senior - Pitcher - Ashland, Ohio
Reymer posted an undefeated weekend, leading the Tritons to sweep Embry-Riddle from the mound. She recorded 17 total strikeouts in 13 innings in two wins, 5-4 and 9-1 against the Eagles. This is her second weekly honor of the season and her second consecutive Pitcher of the Week award.
Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
Dom Veratti, Lynn University
Junior - Midfield - Hillsboro Beach, Florida
Verratti’s offensive efforts were crucial in Lynn’s win over Westminster University, 14-9. He scored five goals, landing seven out of 11 of his shots on frame and added one assist.
Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
Hunter Klosterman, Lynn University
Senior - Goalkeeper - Cumming, Georgia
Klosterman anchored the Knights’ defense between the posts against Westminster with 13 saves and a .591 save percentage. He currently ranks third in the SSC with an 11.50 goals-against average.
Men’s Lacrosse Specialist of the Week
Jacob Czyz, Florida Southern College
Senior - Faceoff - Baldwinsville, New York
From the faceoff circle, Czyz was a key part in Florida Southern’s tightly contested loss to No. 18 Flagler College, 11-8. Czyz secured possession for the Mocs 18-of-23 faceoff attempts for a .783 faceoff win percentage. He also scooped up a game-high of 14 ground balls. This marks the ninth weekly honor of his career.
Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
Rebecca Clark, Lynn University
Senior - Midfielder - Abington, Pennsylvania
Clark powered Lynn University to a 13–11 upset of No. 2 Adelphi University, tallying six goals and one assist while putting eight of 10 shots on goal. Clark is tied for the SSC lead with 13 goals (4.33 per game), leads the league with 27 shots, and ranks third with 14 points. She also added three ground balls and six draw controls in the win. This is Clark’s fifth weekly honor of her career.
Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
Charlie Laye, Florida Southern College
Graduate Student - Defense - Edgewater, Maryland
Laye anchored the Moc defense during their undefeated slate of ranked road games against the University of Alabama Huntsville, and University of Indianapolis. She led the team with eight ground balls and five caused turnovers, helping hold top-ranked Indy scoreless in the third quarter and limiting the Greyhounds to eight goals.
Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Bosko Boskovic, Florida Southern College
Junior - Toronto, Ontario
Bosko Boskovic went 3-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles for the No. 10 Mocs, highlighted by a straight-sets win at No. 5 to help upset No. 2 Valdosta State 4-3. He added straight-set singles and doubles victories against Bates in a 6-1 team win and closed the week with a three-set singles victory at Rollins College.
Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Viktoriia Dema, Barry University
Junior - Kyiv, Ukraine
Dema helped lead the Buccaneers to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Indoor National Championship title, sweeping Flight 3 doubles and adding two singles wins on Court 3. She extended her win streak to four matches in both singles and doubles, while not dropping a set in singles. This is Dema’s second weekly honor of her career.
Men’s Golfer of the Week
Max Barile, Florida Southern College
Redshirt Senior - Land O’ Lakes, Florida
Barile finished as the individual runner-up at the Saint Leo Invitational, shooting 11-under 205 with all three rounds under par. After a second-round 68, he closed with a 69, carding five birdies in the final round for his first top-five finish of the season.
Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week
Hailey Wolfe, University of Tampa
Senior - York, Pennsylvania
Nevaeh Wolfe, University of Tampa
Senior - York, Pennsylvania
The Wolfe twins went 3-0 at the No. 1 pairing to help Tampa improve to 4-0 at the Sandy Spartan Showdown. Hailey and Nevaeh defeated the top pairs from Mercer University (21-19, 21-7), Barry (21-10, 21-19), and Saint Leo (21-13, 21-12) without dropping a set, opening the season 3-0 as the Spartans’ top duo. This marks the twins’ sixth weekly honor as a pair.
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week
Tye Morrell, Barry University
Sophomore - 200-meter/400-meter - Melbourne, Florida
Morrell opened his 2026 outdoor season with a strong start at the Tampa Spartans Open. He took home first-place in the men’s 200-meter dash with a mark of 21.58 seconds. Morrell added a second-place finish in the 400-meter race with a time of 48.14. Overall, Morrell closed the competition having set two new Barry records.
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Distance Athlete of the Week
Cole Summers, Florida Southern College
Junior - 5000-meter - Gulfport, Florida
Summers kicked off the outdoor season at the Tampa Spartans Open by taking home first place in the men’s 5000-meter run, finishing with a time of 14:35.70. The Mocs dominated the event, having four finishers in the top five with Summers leading the pack.
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week
Allison Murphy, University of Tampa
Senior - 400-meter Hurdles/4x100/4x400 - Naugatuck, Connecticut
Murphy turned in three winning performances at the Tampa Spartans Open to open her 2026 outdoor campaign up. She won the 400 hurdles in 1:01.53 and ran on both winning relays, helping the 4x100 to a time of 47.83 and the 4x400 to a finish of 3:55.35. Her 400 Hurdles performance set a provisional mark as she currently ranks No. 1 in NCAA Division II in the event.
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Distance Athlete of the Week
Grace Reed, Florida Southern College
Junior - 1500-meter - Fort Pierce, Florida
At the Tampa Spartans Open, Reed led the Mocs as she took first-place in the 1500-meter with a time of 4:33.44, a new program record. She surpassed the previous record of 4:42.40 set in 2019 by Hannah Fleming. Reed now holds four Florida Southern Women’s Track & Field Records.
