Tampa Men's and Women's Swimming Continue to Lead After Day Three of SSC Championships
OCALA, Fla. – The third day of the 2026 Sunshine State Conference Swim Championships wrapped up at Florida Aquatic Swimming and Training on Friday night with the University of Tampa women taking a big jump over Nova Southeastern (539-476). Lynn continues to remain in third with 276.
In the men's standings, Tampa matched with a successful day, leading by close to 200 points (478) over Lynn (268.5) Nova Southwestern dropped just below the Fighting Knights to sit third with 266 points.
Top Performances:
The evening session opened with a strong performance in the women’s 100 butterfly, where Kristina Orban led the field after winning the top heat in 53.25. Close behind was Lydia Douthit of Lynn University, touching in 53.51 to secure second place. Madalee Roberts rounded out the podium for University of Tampa with a third-place time of 54.24.
The women’s 400 IM A final featured a pair of podium finishes for Tampa, highlighted by Burlingtyn Bokos claiming the title in 4:16.17. Caroline Foltz added another strong swim, finishing third in 4:22.70. Separating the Tampa duo was Lynn’s Mariele De Santis, who earned second place with a time of 4:22.27 in a tightly contested finish.
Before the session break, Orban returned to the pool to capture her second victory of the night in the 200 freestyle, touching first in 1:47.51. Teammate Emilia Ronningdal followed in second with a time of 1:48.64, while Tampa’s Mckenna Patrick secured third place in 1:48.98.
The evening concluded with the women’s 400 medley relay, where Tampa’s quartet of Lindsey Louder, Foltz, Bokos, and Tilde Morin combined for a gold-medal performance in 3:41.59. Lynn finished just behind in 3:42.05, with Nova Southeastern University claiming third in 3:42.06 to cap a competitive night in the pool.
The men’s evening session opened with a record-setting performance in the 100 butterfly, as Maurice Grabowski powered Lynn University to a meet record time of 46.18, eclipsing the previous mark of 46.31 set by Steven Aimable in 2023. The Fighting Knights continued their strong showing with Vitaly Kostin touching second in 46.81, while William Beckstead-Holman secured third for University of Tampa in 46.83.
The 400 IM featured a tight race at the top, highlighted by Tampa’s Nick Cavic claiming first place with a time of 3:51.22 to add valuable points for the Spartans. Akos Hajagos of Florida Institute of Technology followed closely in 3:51.71, while Tampa’s Olive Pope rounded out the podium in 3:52.47.
Before the session break, Jacob Hamlin delivered a winning swim in the 200 freestyle, touching first in 1:34.99. Daniel Mészáros of Florida Southern College placed second in 1:35.35 after a late push, while Kostin captured his second podium finish of the evening with a third-place time of 1:35.66.
The night concluded with the 400 medley relay, where Lynn’s quartet of Grabowski, Maxim Tsyfarov, Kostin, and Enzo Constable delivered another meet-record performance, winning in 3:08.51. Tampa followed in second at 3:09.84, with Florida Southern claiming third in 3:10.73 to close an action-packed session.
The championship resumes on Saturday, February 14th, at 10:00 AM with Day 4 prelims. Events for the day include the 500 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, and 200 butterfly. The evening finals will add the 200 free relay to complete the day’s events.
