ORLANDO, FLA. – The Sunshine State Conference named a record 934 student-athletes to the 2025 Fall Commissioner’s Honor Roll. The awards were announced on Wednesday, February 4th, by SSC Commissioner Chris Graham. Of the student-athletes recognized, 259 carried a perfect 4.00 grade-point average for the fall semester.
This year’s student-athlete total breaks the previous record number of 896 student-athletes named to the 2024 Fall Commissioner’s Honor Roll. It is the 13th consecutive record-breaking fall for the SSC Honor Roll.
Several athletes recognized at the top of their respective sports found their way onto the Honor Roll, including women’s cross country runner of the year Jillian Thorning (Nova Southeastern), men’s cross country runner of the year Nicolas Scarangelli (Embry-Riddle), women’s soccer player of the year Sofia Suarez (Nova Southeastern), women’s soccer defensive player of the year Kajsa Lang (Nova Southeastern), men’s soccer defensive player of the year Juan Hermoso (Palm Beach Atlantic), men’s soccer keeper of the year Flavio Giannini (Palm Beach Atlantic), volleyball freshman/player of the year Valeriya Kozlova (Barry), and volleyball setter of the year Grace Reynolds (Palm Beach Atlantic). Scarangelli, Suarez, Giannini and Kozlova all earned 4.0 GPAs.
Student-athletes must post a minimum grade-point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00 to be eligible for the Fall SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Participants in men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, and volleyball were eligible for the fall honor roll.
Having won 136 Division II National Championships since the league was founded in 1975, SSC student-athletes have proven successful in competition in addition to the classroom. The SSC ranked first among NCAA Division II conferences in ASR (Academic Success Rate) for the third-straight year in 2024-25 and has never fallen below second in the metric’s 19-year history.
