SSC Athletes of the Week | September 15 - 21, 2025

Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their regular season performances during the week of September 15 - 21, 2025. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.

Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week

Valeriya Kozlova, Barry
Freshman - Outside Hitter - Moscow, Russia

Kozlova averaged 5.86 kills per set as Barry went 2-0 at the Embry-Riddle Invitational last week. The Russian began the event with six kills off 15 attempts and no errors for a .400 attack percentage in a sweep of Seton Hill. Kozlova followed with a match-high 35 kills on 65 attempts with four errors for a .484 attack percentage as the Buccaneers bested Lewis in four sets. Her 35-kill performance is tied for the fifth most in an SSC four-set match. For the week, Kozlova totaled 41 kills and a .468 attack percentage while averaging 6.93 points, 1.14 blocks, 1.00 digs, and 0.43 service aces per set. 

Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week

Olivia Aniol, Nova Southeastern

Senior - Middle Hitter - Tarpon Springs, Florida - 3rd SSC Weekly Award

Aniol averaged 2.0 blocks per set with seven solo blocks and seven block assists as NSU went 3-0 last week at the Triton Invite in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Tarpon Springs, Florida product began the event with match-highs in solo blocks (6) and block assists (7) in a five-set win over RV Indianapolis. Aniol also contributed 11 kills, five digs, and a service ace to the Sharks' win. In two sets across sweeps of Bowie State and Edward Waters, the senior provided NSU with two kills, a block, and a dig. The weekly award is the third of her career. 

Volleyball Setter of the Week

Ula Gorjup, Lynn

Sophomore - Ljubljana, Slovenia - 3rd SSC Weekly Award

Gorjup led Lynn to a 3-0 record and a .287 hitting percentage with 10.60 assists per set at the Hyatt Place Bash at the Beach in Boca Raton, Florida. The sophomore from Ljubljana, Slovenia, led the Fighting Knights to sweeps of RV Missouri - St. Louis and Lee as well as a four-set win over Flagler with 106 assists and three errors in 261 attempts across her 10 sets played. Gorjup also gave Lynn 24 digs, eight kills, eight blocks, and six service aces last week. The weekly award is her second this season and the third of her career.
 

Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

Tin Vastic, Palm Beach Atlantic
Junior - Forward - Split, Croatia

Vastic tallied 13 points off six goals and an assist during Palm Beach Atlantic's 3-0-0 week. The Croatian recorded a hat-trick in a 3-0 win at Wingate, with goals in the 13th, 52nd, and 65th minutes. Vastic then had a hand in both goals of a 2-1 win at Lenoir-Rhyne. The junior assisted Fabio Reck's opening goal in the 61st minute before scoring the game-winner in the 72nd minute. Finally, Vastic piloted the Sailfish to a 2-1 conference-opening win against Saint Leo following the equalizer in the 62nd minute and the game-winner in the 81st minute. For the week, the forward tallied three game-winning goals, 10 shots, and seven shots on goal, while averaging 79.7 minutes per game. 

Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

Luca Clavero, Lynn
Senior - Goalkeeper - Sevilla, Spain - 3rd SSC Weekly Award

Clavero registered two clean sheets as Lynn was victorious at Lenoir-Rhyne and against Florida Southern last week. The Spaniard faced nine shots and made four saves in a 1-0 win at Lenoir-Rhyne. Clavero followed with five saves while facing nine shots in a 3-0 conference-opening victory at home against FSC. The weekly award is the third of his career.
 

Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

Lauryn Wood, Florida Tech
Senior - Forward - Preston, England - 2nd SSC Weekly Award

Wood scored twice as Florida Tech went 1-0-1 on the road last week. The Briton knocked in the game-winner in the 57th minute as the Panthers bested Palm Beach Atlantic 2-0 in non-conference action. In a 1-1 tie at RV Nova Southeastern to open conference play, Wood scored the game's first goal in the 66th minute. For the week, the senior forward tallied nine shots, four shots on goal, and averaged 79.5 minutes on the pitch. The weekly award is the second of her career.

Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

Emma Brunelli, Lynn
Sophomore - Goalkeeper - Genoa, Italy

Brunelli totaled 17 saves while facing 38 total shots last week for the Fighting Knights. In a 1-0 loss to Flagler, the Italian made 13 saves and faced 22 total shots for a .929 save percentage. It stands as the most saves in an SSC contest since October 2023. Brunelli then helped Lynn earn a point in the SSC standings with four saves in a conference-opening 0-0 draw at Florida Southern. For the week, the sophomore tallied a .944 save percentage while playing every minute for the Fighting Knights. 
 

Men's Golfer of the Week

Reggie Fear, Eckerd
Sophomore - Surrey, England - 2nd SSC Weekly Award

Fear tied for first at the Griffin Invitational at the Country Club of Petersburg in Petersburg, Virginia. The Briton bested 85 golfers with a 54-hole score of 6-under, 210, following rounds of 71-67-72. Fear's performance led Eckerd to a six-place finish, besting eight programs.

Women's Golfer of the Week

Emilia Koskinen, Lynn
Sophomore - Espoo, Finland

Koskinen finished in fourth place at the NCAA DII South Region Preview at Cleveland Country Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Finn outscored 89 golfers with a 54-hole score of 2-over, 218, following rounds of 74-70-74. Koskinen led the field in Par 4 scoring at -3 (3.90 avg). With the play of Koskinen, Lynn finished second out of 16 teams in the season's opening tournament.
