Tampa Advances to NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse National Championship

SALEM, Va. — The University of Tampa women's lacrosse team is headed to the NCAA Division II National Championship after defeating Indianapolis 13-8 on Thursday, May 22nd. The Spartans are the defending national champions.

After conceding an early lead, Tampa responded with a dominant nine-goal run to take control of the game. Peyton Howell led the Spartans with four first-half goals, while the defense tightened up after the first quarter. UIndy mounted a brief comeback in the third quarter, but Tampa maintained their advantage and closed out the game with a quiet fourth quarter. Key performances included Howell's five points, Savvy Barbosa's nine saves, and strong draw control work from Isabella Avila and Lexi Waters.

Tampa will face Adelphi in a rematch of the 2024 championship on Saturday, May 24 in Salem, Virginia.
