SSC Athletes of the Week | March 3 - 9, 2025

Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of March 3 - 9, 2025. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.

Baseball Player of the Week

Cole Fowler, Lynn
Senior - Third Base - Mantua, New Jersey

Fowler led Lynn to a 3-0 week following a .692 batting average, a .714 on-base percentage, and a 1.538 slugging percentage. The Mantua, New Jersey native went 9-for-13 with eight runs scored, six runs batted in, three home runs, two doubles, and a walk. In an 8-1 victory against New Haven, he was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk. He then went 3-for-5 with two bombs as the Fighting Knights won, 8-7, over No. 22 Molloy. Finally, Fowler went 4-for-5 in a 14-4 win versus Bentley with three RBI and two extra-base hits. Defensively, the third baseman had three putouts and four assists in seven chances. He also helped turn a pair of double plays. Fowler now owns a 15-game hitting streak.

Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Dylan Peck, Barry
Junior - Fort Myers, Florida

Peck tossed a complete game, powering Barry to a 9-3 neutral site win over Roosevelt. The Fort Myers, Florida product tossed 113 pitches, including 81 strikes, in nine innings of work on the mound. Peck allowed seven hits and three runs (two earned) while striking out eight hitters and issuing no walks.
 


Softball Player of the Week

Sarah Langlie, Barry
Freshman - Outfield/Catcher - Melbourne, Florida

Langlie drove in 15 runners on 15 hits as Barry went 6-3 at the Space Coast Games in Viera, Florida last week. The Melbourne, Florida product was 15-for-34 with nine runs scored, six extra-base hits, two stolen bases, a walk, and a sac fly at the event. She sported a .441 batting average, a .444 on-base percentage, and a .679 slugging percentage over her nine games. Her top performance of the week came in a 19-4 win over Assumption, where she went 3-for-3 with five RBI and two runs scored. Langlie scored in five games, recorded multiple hits in five games, and drove in multiple runners in four games.

Softball Pitcher of the Week

Gracelyn Wallace, Nova Southeastern
Sophomore - Sorrento, Florida

Wallace recorded a 0.00 ERA for Nova Southeastern over 22.2 innings and four appearances, including three complete games. The Sorrento, Florida native earned the start in game one of a doubleheader against Flagler, tossing seven innings, allowing six hits and a walk, while striking out seven in a 1-0 NSU win. In game two against Flagler, she earned a win after 3.2 innings of work in relief. She allowed no hits and walked one in the 9-1 Sharks victory. Wallace was dominant in another 1-0 NSU victory, holding Saginaw Valley to five hits and two walks while striking out eight. Finally, against No. 21 Kutztown, Wallace threw a five-inning complete game, allowing just one hit and striking out six in NSU's 8-0 win. Opponents hit just .156 against her this week as she tallied a 0.706 WHIP and 7.1 strikeouts per seven innings pitched.
 


Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week

Davis Lindsey, Tampa
Graduate Student - Attack - Huntersville, North Carolina - 2nd SSC Weekly Award

Lindsey was the top offensive player in Tampa's 9-6 win at No. 7 Maryville. The Huntersville, North Carolina native tallied a game-high four points with game-leading three goals and an assist. Lindsey scored his three goals with eight shots, five of which landed on goal. Lindsey also tallied a pair of ground balls and two caused turnovers in the Top-10 win. The weekly award is his second this season.

Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
 

Connor Theriault, Tampa
Graduate Student - Goalkeeper - Mount Hermon, Massachusetts - 4th SSC Weekly Award

Theriault nabs his third consecutive Defensive Player of the Week honor for his play in Tampa's 9-6 win at No. 7 Maryville. The Mount Hermon, Massachusetts, native tallied 14 saves and allowed six goals for a .700 save percentage. Theriault also added a ground ball to his stat sheet in the Top-10 win. The weekly award is his fourth this season. 


Men's Lacrosse Specialist of the Week

Michael Flores, Tampa
Graduate Student - FOS - Apopka, Florida - 12th SSC Weekly Award

Flores was 12-for-17 in faceoffs during Tampa's road win against No. 7 Maryville (9-6). Along with his performance at the X, the graduate student from Apopka, Florida, picked up five ground balls for the Spartans. The weekly award is the 12th of his career, tying him for third all-time in SSC men's lacrosse.
 


Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week

Kristyn Johnson, Lynn
Graduate Student - Attack - Rochester, New York - 5th SSC Weekly Award

Johnson tied the SSC single-game scoring record with 10 goals in Lynn's 18-7 win over Mount Olive. The Rochester, New York native also added two assists for a total of 12 points, which is tied for third all-time in SSC single-game history. Johnson's 10 goals came off 11 total shots and 10 shots on goal. She was also 2-2 in free position opportunities. The graduate student picked up two ground balls and caused a turnover in the win. The weekly award is the fifth of her career.

Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week

Kaitlyn Henry, Embry-Riddle
Senior - Defender - Voorhees, New Jersey

Henry led Embry-Riddle on the defensive side of a 17-12 win at No. 14 Flagler. The Voorhees, New Jersey product tallied a game-high three caused turnovers. Henry also picked up a pair of ground balls in the ranked win.
 


Men's Golfer of the Week

Tyler Mistretta, Florida Southern
Junior - North Palm Beach, Florida

Mistretta finished T7th at the Las Vegas Desert Classic at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada. The North Palm Beach, Florida native outplayed 92 golfers, including nine of Clippd's Top-25 ranked players. Mistretta shot a 54-hole score of 7-under, 209 following rounds of 69-71-69. The junior was second in par 3 scoring (2-under) and ninth in par 5 scoring (8-under). With the play of Mistretta, Florida Southern finished second among 20 teams, ahead of five Top-10 programs.


Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week

Wilson Igbinovia, Embry-Riddle
Junior - Lagos, Nigeria - 3rd SSC Weekly Award

Igbinovia picks up his third weekly award this season after a 4-0 record last week. In ERAU's 7-0 win over Fresno Pacific, the Nigerian and partner Mason Cisco were victorious at #3 doubles (7-6[10-8]). Igbinovia then earned a victory at #1 singles (6-2, 6-4). In a 5-2 victory against No. 14 Wayne State, Igbinovia and Cisco took the victory at #3 doubles (6-3) before the junior won at #1 singles over the ITA's No. 15 player (6-4, 5-7, 6-2).

Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week

Ita Habekovic, Nova Southeastern
Senior - Zagreb, Croatia

Habekovic led NSU to wins over No. 18 West Florida (7-0), No 19 West Alabama (4-0), and No. 20 Auburn - Montgomery (4-0). Playing from #2 singles, the Croatian delivered a 6-4, 7-6[9-7] win against UWF, a 6-4, 6-3 win versus UWA, and a 6-3, 6-3 win over AUM. Habekovic and partner Kristyna Hranacova were victorious at #1 doubles against UWF (6-4) and AUM (6-1).
 


Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week

Elizabeth Price, Tampa
Graduate Student - Tampa, Florida - 2nd SSC Weekly Award

Angel Williams, Tampa
Junior - Puerto Jimenez, Costa Rica

Price and Williams, Tampa's #1 flight, delivered dominant performances as the Spartans went 1-1 last week. The duo first powered past South Florida's top duo (21-8, 21-15) in a 3-2 Tampa win. Price/Williams bested Palm Beach Atlantic's top pair (21-17, 21-18) as the Spartans fell 3-2 to the Sailfish.
 


Men's Outdoor Track Sprinter of the Week

Paul Mosley, Lynn
Junior - Savannah, Georgia - 2nd SSC Weekly Award

Mosley repeats as Sprinter of the Week following an NCAA provisional mark and a pair of relay wins at the Eagle Invite in Daytona Beach. The Savannah, Georgia, product finished second in the 200 meters with an NCAA provisional time of 20.80. The junior was just .0005 seconds out of first place. Running in second position, Mosley helped pilot the Fighting Knights to a win and an NCAA provisional mark in the 4x400 (3.12.82). Additionally, Lynn and Mosley finished first in the 4x100 (41.99).

Men's Outdoor Track Distance Runner of the Week

Gabe McConville, Tampa
Senior - Waynesburg, Pennsylvania

McConville was victorious in the 800 meters at the Tampa Classic last week. The senior from Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, outpaced a field of 36 runners in the event, finishing with an NCAA provisional time of 1:49.61. In relays, McConville ran leadoff in UTampa's 4x400 A-team victory (3:22.31).
 


Women's Outdoor Track Sprinter of the Week

Liora C. Best, Embry-Riddle
Freshman - Palm Bay, Florida

Best tallied three wins in four events for ERAU at the Eagle Invite last week. The Palm Bay, Florida native won the 400 meters over a field of 18 runners with a time of 56.53. Best then finished fourth of 35 runners in the 200 meters with a time of 25.44. In relays, the freshman ran leadoff in ERAU's 4x400 win (3:56.66) and third in a 4x100 win (48.15).

Women's Outdoor Distance Runner of the Week

Emma Mussante, Florida Southern
Senior - Middleburg, Florida - 3rd SSC Weekly Award

Mussante won the 1500 meters at the Tampa Classic. The senior from Middleburg, Florida, finished the race in 4:43.35, besting the remaining 24 runners in the field by more than two seconds. Her time ranks as the second fastest in FSC program history.
 


Women's Rowing Boat of the Week

Varsity 4 Embry-Riddle

Embry-Riddle's Varsity 4, consisting of Laurel Grein (coxswain), Caterina Hart, Sabrina Graves, Alexandria Fife-Winslow, and Gracie Thompson, is named Boat of the Week. The crew posted a time of 7:54.5 to beat Rollins (8:00.2) and Barry (8:21.5) in Winter Park on Saturday. ERAU's V4 went on to defeat the Buccaneers on Sunday by 40 seconds with a winning time of 7:56.4.
