SSC Swimmers Win 11 National Titles, Earn 246 All-America Honors

The Nova Southeastern Sharks won their third consecutive women's national title

RICHMOND, Virginia - Nova Southeastern women's swimming captured their third consecutive NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving National Championship. The Sharks totaled 475 points behind one individual national title and two relay titles. After the meet, Nova Southeastern Head Coach Ben Hewitt was named the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Women's Coach of the Year. Lynn University's Luna Mertins was named the 2025 CSCAA Women's Swimmer of the Year after winning two national titles and setting two national records.

On the men's side, the University of Tampa followed up their national championship with a second-place finish. The Spartans scored 451 points and were led by CSCAA Men's Swimmer of the Year Jacob Hamlin. Hamlin won four national titles and set national records in the 500 Free, the 1000 Free, and the 1650 Free.

In all, 75 athletes earned All-America honors in 246 events.

Women's Championship Recap

For the third year in a row, the Nova Southeastern Sharks took home the national title. Behind an incredible performance from Mertins, Lynn finished 5th-place for the second consecutive season. Their 233 points barely topped the University of Tampa who finished sixth with 220 points. It was the third year in a row that three SSC teams finished in the top 10 at the national meet.

The Sharks earned their win by winning both the 400 Free Relay and the 800 Free Relay. Kristina Orban added a national title in the 200 Free.

Men's Championship Recap

One year after becoming the first SSC men's swimming program to win the national championship, the Spartans had another great showing, finishing as the national runner-up with 451 points. Florida Southern earned the program's 15th consecutive Top-15 finish, the COVID year of 2022 notwithstanding, by tying for 10th place. They finished with 152 points, which was the same amount that Lynn University earned to earn their best national finish in program history. Nova Southeastern finished 15th and Rollins finished 18th.

The meet belonged to Tampa's Hamlin who finished with four national titles and three national records. Tampa also won the 800 Free Relay and Tibor Tistan won the 50 Free national title.

CSCAA All-American Selection Criteria

All-Americans are selected on the basis of their finish at the NCAA Division II National Championship and a team's current membership with the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). Only student-athletes who competed in their championship finals are eligible for All-America Honors. As of 2017, the performance criteria for selection are first through eighth in individual events, and relays are named First Team, while Second Team honorees finished ninth through 16th.
