SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University Athletics is thrilled to announce the return of men's and women's track & field as a varsity sport! This exciting relaunch marks a major milestone for the Athletics department and the university, reinforcing Saint Leo's commitment to expanding student-athlete opportunities and supporting enrollment growth.
As part of this initiative, Saint Leo is making a significant investment in its athletic facilities, including the construction of a brand-new track set to be completed this summer. This facility will serve as a state-of-the-art training and competition space for student-athletes while also allowing the university to host local high school and collegiate track meets. The addition of this facility will further strengthen community engagement and position Saint Leo as a regional hub for track and field competition.
"The return of track & field as a varsity sport is a game-changer for Saint Leo University," said Marcal Lazenby, Saint Leo's Director of Athletics, Wellness, and Recreation. "This investment not only enhances our athletic offerings but also creates opportunities for student-athletes to excel both on and off the track. We are excited to build a program that will make a lasting impact on our university and community."
This investment in track & field aligns with Saint Leo's mission to provide diverse athletic opportunities while strategically growing enrollment. The Athletics department looks forward to welcoming new student-athletes to campus and is eager to see the positive impact this program will have on the university community.
