SSC Athletes of the Week | March 10 - 16, 2025

Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of March 10 - 16, 2025. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.

Baseball Player of the Week

Max Kops, Embry-Riddle
Graduate Student - Infield - Noord-Brabant, The Netherlands - 2nd SSC Weekly Award

Kops drove in 11 runners, scored 10 times, and homered in his last four games as Embry-Riddle went 5-0 last week. The Dutchman began the week with a 4-for-10 performance in two games against USC Beaufort, in which he tallied four RBI, four runs scored, two doubles, and a home run. He followed with a 3-for-4 performance in a win over Minnesota Duluth with two RBI, a double, and a home run. Finally, in a two-game set against St. Michael's, Kops went 5-for-9 at the plate, drove in five runners, scored five times, and homered in both contests. Over the five games, he totaled 12 hits in 23 at-bats for a .522 batting average. Kops also recorded a .577 on-base percentage and a 1.261 slugging percentage. Defensively, the infielder had 28 putouts and three assists in 32 chances and helped turn five double plays. The weekly award is his second of the season.

Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Sachem Ramos, Florida Southern
Sophomore - Woodacre, California

Ramos earned his fourth win of the season following his start in FSC's series opener at Eckerd. The Woodacre, California native gave the Moccasins seven innings on the bump, striking out five Tritons and allowing no runs, one hit, and three walks. Ramos held the 25 batters he faced to a .048 batting average.
 


Softball Player of the Week

Maddie Antioco, Saint Leo
Sophomore - Outfield - New Port Richey, Florida

Antioco recorded a .500 batting average, a .556 on-base percentage, and a .750 slugging percentage as Saint Leo swept West Liberty and No. 22 Barry. The New Port Richey, Florida native, was 8-for-16 at the plate across the five games with 10 RBI, six runs scored, four doubles, a walk, a hit-by-pitch, and a stolen base. In the conference series against Barry, Antioco was 5-for-10 with four RBI and three runs scored.

Softball Pitcher of the Week

Sammy Murphy, Florida Tech
Freshman - Deerfield Beach, Florida

Murphy tossed a pair of complete game wins for Florida Tech last week. The Deerfield Beach, Florida native earned the start in game two of a doubleheader against Adelphi, throwing seven innings, allowing one run (earned), seven hits, and a walk while striking out five in a 6-1 Panther win. Murphy earned the start in game two at Lynn, throwing a seven-inning complete game shutout. The freshman allowed four hits and a walk while striking out three Fighting Knights in the 6-0 victory.
 


Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week

John Raucci, Saint Leo
Junior - Midfield - Seaford, New York

Raucci guided Saint Leo to a victory in a close contest with No. 9 Maryville (11-9). The Seaford, New York product scored a game-high five goals, including the game-winner, in the victory. Raucci tallied his five goals on eight shots, five of which landed on goal.

Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
 

Carson Corona, Florida Southern
Freshman - Defender - Syracuse, New York

Corona was the top defensive player in Florida Southern's win over No. 13 Colorado Mesa (15-8). The Syracuse, New York product tallied game-high numbers in caused turnovers (7) and ground balls (6) in the win. With the play of Corona, the Moccasins held CMU to five goals below its season-scoring average and handed the program its first loss of the season. His seven caused turnovers are tied for third all-time in SSC single-game performances.


Men's Lacrosse Specialist of the Week

Colin Delo, Palm Beach Atlantic
Sophomore - FOS - Schwenksville, Pennsylvania

Delo was 13-for-17 in faceoffs during Palm Beach Atlantic's road loss against No. 10 Flagler (15-11). Along with his performance at the X, the sophomore from Schwenksville, Pennsylvania, picked up a game-high eight ground balls for the Sailfish.
 


Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week

Rachel Delate, Palm Beach Atlantic
Graduate Student - Attack - Glen Mills, Pennsylvania

Delate totaled 31 points from 19 goals and 12 assists as Palm Beach Atlantic went 3-0 last week. The Glen Mills, Pennsylvania native's top performance came against Virginia-Wise (21-12), where she tied the SSC single-game points record with 13 following seven goals and six assists. Delate began the week with six goals and three assists in a win over Anderson (14-12). She poured in six goals and gave PBA three assists in the week's finale against McKendree (15-9). Delate's 19 goals came off 33 total shots and 28 on goal. She was also 4-for-6 in free position opportunities. The graduate student also picked up two ground balls and caused a turnover last week.

Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week

Maria Reeves, Florida Southern
Senior - Midfield - Everett, Washington

Reeves averaged 12.3 draw controls per game across three games for Florida Southern. Her top performance came in the week's finale against No. 2 Pace, where she tied the SSC single-game draw controls record with 18 in the FSC win (20-11). The Everett, Washington midfielder opened the week with five draw controls, a ground ball, and a shot in a victory over No. 7 Indianapolis (15-12). She followed with a game-high 14 draw controls and a caused turnover in a win against Alabama-Huntsville (19-6).
 


Men's Golfer of the Week

Joseph Hudak, Lynn
Graduate Student - Jupiter, Florida

Hudak finished third at the Southeastern Collegiate at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta, Georgia. The graduate student from Jupiter, Florida, outscored 84 golfers, including 12 of Clippd's Top-50 players. Hudak finished 7-under at 209 following rounds of 65-75-69. His first round 65 was the lowest single round of the tournament.

Women's Golfer of the Week

Haruka Mata, Nova Southeastern
Senior - Funabashi, Japan

Muta won the Space Coast Collegiate Championship at Duran Golf Club in Viera, Florida. The Funabashi, Japan native was crowned champion after outscoring 64 golfers with a 54-hole score of 4-under, 212 following rounds of 73-70-69. The senior tallied 13 birdies and a pair of eagles to win the tournament by six strokes. With the play of Muta, the Sharks claimed the team title over a field of 12 teams.
 


Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week

Chris Fok Kow, Florida Southern
Senior - Balaclava, Mauritius - 6th SSC Weekly Award

Fok Kow went undefeated in doubles and singles as Florida Southern posted wins against Ferris State (4-1), Emory (4-3), Thomas Jefferson (6-1), and Rider (6-1). The Mauritian and partner Mario Garoz won four times on court one: 6-3 vs. Ferris State, 6-3 vs. Emory, 6-0 vs. TJU, and 6-3 vs. Rider. In singles play, Fok Kow went 3-6, 6-4, 2-2 (unfinished) against Ferris State, 4-5, 7-6 [7-5], 1-0 [10-4] against TJU, and 6-3, 6-3 against RIder on court two. He also won 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 on court one versus Emory. The weekly award is the sixth of his career.

Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week

Ita Habekovic, Nova Southeastern
Senior - Zagreb, Croatia - 2nd SSC Weekly Award

Habekovic repeats as NSU to wins over No. 23 Wayne State (5-1), Hillsdale (7-0), and No. 6 Flagler (7-0). Playing from #2 singles, the Croatian delivered a 6-3, 6-4 win against Wayne State, a 6-1, 6-1 win versus Hillsdale, and a 6-3, 6-3 win over Flagler. Habekovic and partner Kristyna Hranacova were victorious at #1 doubles against Wayne State (6-1) and Flagler (6-3).
 


Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week

Hailey Wolfe, Tampa
Junior - York, Pennsylvania - 3rd SSC Weekly Award

Nevaeh Wolfe, Tampa
Junior - York, Pennsylvania - 3rd SSC Weekly Award

The Wolfe twins pick up a third Pair of the Week honor this season following a 3-1 record at the #2 slot at the Florida Atlantic Invitational. The juniors took a win over No. 15 Stetson (22-20, 21-14) and No. 27 Florida Gulf Coast (18-21, 21-13, 17-15) on day one in Boca Raton. The Wolfes opened day two with a win over No. 22 Alabama-Birminghame (21-15, 21-18) before falling to the No. 10 ranked duo in the country from No. 3 TCU (21-13, 21-15).
 


Women's Rowing Boat of the Week

Varsity 8 Embry-Riddle

Embry-Riddle's Varsity 8, consisting of Jolee Paulk (Cox), Shelby Ernst, Emily Retty, Sarah Kinlocke, Aria Moses, Abby Webb, Lily Burdick, Soleil Edwards, and Alexandra Weilert, is named Boat of the Week. The crew posted a time of 6:35.9 to beat MAAC preseason favorite Jacksonville (6:41.5), Stetson (6:46.6), NCAA III No. 2 Wesleyan (6:52.9), No. 7 Rollins (7:13.3) and Nova Southeastern (7:25.6) at the Stetson Showdown.
