SSC Athletes of the Week | November 3 - 9, 2025
Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their regular season performances during the week of November 3 - 9, 2025. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.
Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week
Valeriya Kozlova, Barry
Freshman - Outside Hitter - Moscow, Russia - 4th SSC Weekly Award
Kozlova repeats as Offensive Player of the Week after averaging 5.92 kills per set and with a .348 hitting percentage during Barry’s 2-1 week. The Russian’s top performance of the week came in a 3-0 win over Florida Tech, where she tallied a match-high 26 kills on 45 attempts and three errors for a .511 attack percentage. In a five-set win at Embry-Riddle, Kozlova recorded a match-high 36 kills on 77 attempts with 10 errors for a .338 attack percentage. Lastly, tallied nine kills in a 3-1 loss at Palm Beach Atlantic. For the week, Kozlova totaled 71 kills while averaging 6.75 points, 0.83 digs, 0.67 blocks, and 0.41 service aces across 12 sets. The weekly award is her fourth this season
Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Ana Rivera, Tampa
Junior - Defensive Specialist - Gurabo, Puerto Rico - 2nd SSC Weekly Award
Rivera averaged 6.57 digs per set during Tampa's 2-0 record on the road last week. The Gurabo, Puerto Rico product started the week with a match-high 13 digs in a sweep at Rollins. She followed with a match-high 33 digs in a four-set win at Eckerd. Additionally, Rivera provided the Spartans with seven assists and five service aces across along with her 46 digs in her seven sets played. The weekly award is her second this season.
Volleyball Setter of the Week
Grace Reynolds, Palm Beach Atlantic
Senior - Martinsville, Indiana - 4th SSC Weekly Award
Reynolds averaged 12.29 assists per set as Palm Beach Atlantic defeated No. 2 Barry and Saint Leo last week. The senior from Martinsville, Indiana, tallied match-highs in assists (47) and service aces (5) in PBA’s 3-1 win over Barry. Reynolds then totaled a match-high 39 assists in a sweep of Saint Leo. She also provided the Sailfish with 16 digs and seven digs last week. With the play of Reynolds, the Sailfish hit over .300 in back-to-back matches for the first time this season. The weekly award is her fourth this season.
Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
James Averies, Barry
Senior - Defender - Norwich, England
Averies scored the late equalizer for Barry in a 1-1 regular-season finale draw with No. 17 Florida Tech. The Englishman found the back of the net with a 20-yard strike in the 82nd minute off a Humberto Benavidez assist. Averies totaled four shots and three shots on goal in the tie. With his score, Barry forced a rematch between the two squads in the first round of the conference playoffs.
Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Elias Ronning Orn, Florida Tech
Freshman - Goalkeeper - Randaberg, Norway - 3rd SSC Weekly Award
Ronning Orn helped Florida Tech earn a point in the standings and secure home-field advantage in the SSC quarterfinals. The Norwegian faced 17 total shots and six corner kicks, making 10 saves in a 1-1 draw at Barry. The weekly award is his second this season. His contributions propelled Florida Tech into a home playoff rematch between the two squads.
Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Izzie Bromage, Florida Tech
Freshman - Forward - Westport, Massachusetts - 2nd Weekly Award
Bromage scored twice in Florida Tech’s 3-0 win over Barry to close out the 2025 regular season. The Westport, Massachusetts product knocked in the game-winner just 4:18 into the home match. Bromage added insurance with another strike in the 73rd minute. With Bromage’s performance, Florida Tech secures home-field advantage in the first round of the conference playoffs. The weekly award is her second this season.
Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Madi Winn, Eckerd
Junior - Goalkeeper - Fort Myers, Florida - 3rd SSC Weekly Award
Winn three-peats as Defensive Player of the Week following a regular-season ending draw at Georgia College. The Fort Myers, Florida, product made seven saves in the 1-1 tie. She faced 10 total shots and four corners in the contest.
Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Ryan Franklin, Tampa
Junior - Center - Edmond, Oklahoma
Franklin was Tampa’s top performer at the 2025 Texas Woman’s Tip-Off Classic. The Edmond, Oklahoma product started the event with game-highs in points (18) and rebounds (9), along with a block, steal, and an assist during a 69-66 loss to No. 25 Harding. The junior center followed with 17 points, six rebounds, and an assist in a 63-62 loss to No. 18 Southwest Minnesota State. Franklin totaled 35 points last week by shooting 53% from the field (16-30) and 50% from the free-throw line (3-6). She averaged 17.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 0.5 steals while playing 33.5 minutes per game.
Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week
Alanis Diaz, Tampa
Graduate Student - Guard/Forward - New York, New York
Diaz grabs Defensive Player of the Week for her play at the 2025 Texas Woman’s Tip-Off Classic. The Grad student helped limit No. 25 Harding to sup-26% perimeter shooting and pulled in four defensive rebounds in a 69-66 loss. Against No. 18 Southwest Minnesota State, the New Yorker tallied team highs in defensive rebounds (6) and steals (2) in a 63-62 UTampa loss. Offensively, Diaz provided the Spartans with 17 points, two offensive rebounds, and an assist last week.
Men's Swimmer of the Week
Vitaly Kostin, Lynn
Senior - Novosibirsk, Russia - 3rd Weekly Award
Kostin was the top performer in Lynn’s dominant dual meet win over Nova Southeastern. The standout went a perfect 6-for-6 across his events, sweeping four individual races, contributing to two relay victories, and posting two NCAA D2 “B” cuts. He won the 500 free (4:35.37) and 200 free (1:38.60), both part of Lynn’s 1–5 finish in the 200 free, and helped the 400 free relay (3:02.32) hit an NCAA B-cut. On Saturday, he broke the school record in the 100 IM (50.62) and followed with a 100 fly win (47.81, NCAA B-cut), helping Lynn to a 400 medley relay victory (3:21.03) to complete a perfect weekend. The weekly award is the third of his career.
Women's Swimmer of the Week
Mariele De Santis, Lynn
Sophomore - Artena, Italy
De Santis was the top performer in a dual meet against Nova Southeastern. She earned two individual wins and posted an NCAA D2 “B” cut while anchoring the team throughout the weekend. De Santis opened the meet with a 200 butterfly win (2:03.13, NCAA B-cut), leading a Lynn 1–2 finish, then added a 200 backstroke victory (2:04.06) and a runner-up finish in the 400 IM (4:33.27) to complete a strong weekend.
