SSC Athletes of the Week | October 6 - 12, 2025

Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their regular season performances during the week of October 6 - 12, 2025. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.

Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week

Valeriya Kozlova, Barry
Freshman - Outside Hitter - Moscow, Russia - 2nd SSC Weekly Award

Kozlova averaged 7.17 kills per set and hit .440 in Barry's sweeps over Florida Tech and Embry-Riddle. In her first action of the week, the Russian tallied a match-high 21 kills off 47 attempts and three errors for a .383 attack percentage in a sweep of Florida Tech. Kozlova followed with a match-high 22 kills on 37 attempts with three errors for a .514 attack percentage as the Buccaneers bested ERAU in three sets. Her performances stand as the most and second-most kills in a three-set SSC match this season. For the week, Kozlova totaled 43 kills while averaging 8.83 points, 1.83 digs, 1.67 blocks, and 0.83 service aces per set. The weekly award is her second this season.

Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week

Ivana Zujovic, Barry

Junior - Middle Hitter - Tampa, Florida - 3rd SSC Weekly Award

Zujovic anchored the Barry defense with 18 blocks across three conference matches last week. The Tampa native opened the week with a match-high five blocks (two solo), five kills, and two digs in a 3-2 loss to Palm Beach Atlantic. Zujovic followed with two blocks and two kills in a sweep of Florida Tech. Lastly, the junior tallied a match-high 11 blocks in a sweep of Embry-Riddle, along with two kills and two digs. Her 11 kills against ERAU are tied for the second most all-time in an SSC three-set match. It is just the third time since 2021 that an SSC volleyball player has reached 11 blocks in a three-set match. The weekly award is the third of her career.

Volleyball Setter of the Week

Grace Reynolds, Palm Beach Atlantic

Senior - Martinsville, Indiana - 2nd SSC Weekly Award

Reynolds averaged 9.75 assists per set as Palm Beach Atlantic defeated No. 3 Barry and Saint Leo on the road. The senior from Martinsville, Indiana, led the Sailfish to a 3-2 win at Barry with a match-high 46 assists, 13 digs, five kills, and three blocks. Reynolds delivered a match-high 32 assists along with six digs and four service aces in a sweep at Saint Leo. The weekly award is her second this season.
 

Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

Juan Hermoso, Palm Beach Atlantic
Graduate Student - Defender - Mendoza, Argentina

Hermoso scored both goals in Palm Beach Atlantic's 2-0 win over No. 14 Florida Tech. The Argentinian scored the game-winner in the 37th minute off a Paul Danner assist. Hermoso followed with an insurance goal in the 47th minute off another Danner assist. He finished the match with three shots, two of which were on goal, while playing all 90 minutes.

Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

Luan Barroso Rennstich, Lynn
Sophomore - Defender - Ingelheim, Germany

Barroso Rennstich led Lynn on both ends of the pitch in a 2-0 win at Saint Leo. The German anchored a Fighting Knight defense that held the Lions to four total shots and just one shot on goal, securing a third consecutive shutout. Barroso Rennstich also assisted Dominik N'gatie's goal in the 79th minute to put the game out of reach. 
 

Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

Izzie Bromage, Florida Tech
Freshman - Forward - Westport, Massachusetts

Bromage scored both of Florida Tech's goals last week across two conference games, including the fastest goal in program history. The Westport, Massachusetts product knocked in the game-winner just 10 seconds into a home match against Palm Beach Atlantic, delivering the Panthers a 1-0 victory. In a 2-1 loss at Tampa, Bromage scored the game's first goal in the 34th minute. For the week, the freshman forward tallied four shots, three shots on goal, and averaged 71.0 minutes on the pitch. 

Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

Stella Roane, Embry-Riddle
Junior - Goalkeeper - Broomfield, Colorado

Roane totaled 11 saves while facing 23 total shots as ERAU went 2-0-0 last week. In a 2-1 win at Flagler, the Broomfield, Colorado native made seven saves and faced 13 total shots for a .875 save percentage. Roane then helped the Eagles earn three points in the SSC standings with four saves in a 1-0 victory over Eckerd. For the week, the junior tallied a .917 save percentage while playing every minute for the Eagles.
 

Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week

Christian Giller, Florida Southern
Senior - Brandon, Florida - 5th SSC Weekly Award

Giller finished 13th at the Lewis Crossover in Romeoville, Illinois, with an 8,000-meter time of 24:21.02. The senior from Brandon, Florida, recorded the second-fastest performance of his career and fourth-fastest all-time in Florida Southern history. With Giller's performance, FSC finished sixth of 37 teams and bested six Top-30 programs. The SSC weekly award is his fourth in cross country, fifth overall.

Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week

Dominyka Petraskaite, Palm Beach Atlantic 
Graduate Student - Alytus, Lithuania

Petraskaite was the top SSC runner at the Lewis Crossover in Romeoville, Illinois. The Lithuanian finished 39th of 100 runners with a 6,000-meter time of 22:22.03. Her performance vaulted Palm Beach Atlantic to a 13th-place team finish against a field of 36 teams. 
 
Men's Golfer of the Week

Simon Roessler, Lynn
Senior - Santiago, Chile

Roessler finished tied for fourth at the Division II National Preview at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada. The Chilean bested 89 golfers with a 54-hole score of 10-under, 206, following rounds of 69-70-67. Roessler led the field in par-five scoring at 12-under and tied for fifth with 16 birdies. With the play of Roessler, Lynn took home the team trophy against a field of 17 teams, with 12 squads ranked or receiving votes in the latest GCAA poll.

Women's Golfer of the Week

Clare Gimpel, Florida Southern
Graduate Student - Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania

Gimpel won the NCAA D2 National Championship Preview hosted by Lynn at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania product bested 65 athletes with a 54-hole score of 7-over, 223, following rounds of 75-77-71. Gimpel was one of three golfers to post an under-par score in the final round. With the play of Gimpel, Florida Southern finished fourth of 12 programs and ahead of four SSC opponents.
 
Men's Swimmer of the Week

Daniel Meszaros, Florida Southern
Sophomore - Budapest, Hungary

Meszaros earned a pair of individual wins in Florida Southern's 182-80 dual meet victory against Florida Tech to open the 2025-26 season. The Hungarian was victorious in the 200 free with a time of 1:39.54, just 0.06 away from an NCAA "B" cut. Meszaro followed with a 100 free victory with a time of 45.38. He also swam lead off on Florida Southern's 400 free relay win with a 100 free time of 45.54.

Women's Swimmer of the Week

Burlingtyn Bokos, Tampa
Sophomore - Hinsdale, Illinois - 2nd SSC Weekly Award

Bokos kicked off her season with a tremendous performance at the Eagle Invitational hosted by FGCU. The Hinsdale, Illinois native won the 400 IM with an NCAA "B" cut of 4:22.35. Bokos went on to finish runner-up in the 200 IM at 2:03.56 and in the 200 fly at 2:00.61, both NCAA "B" cuts. The sophomore's marks in the 400 IM, 200 IM, and 200 fly rank her second, first, and first in Division II, respectively. The weekly award is the second of her career.
