Saint Leo holds a four-shot lead heading into the final round

LARGO, Fla. - Round two of the 2024 Sunshine State Conference Women's Golf Championship is complete, and national No. 14 Saint Leo leads the field by three strokes. Play resumes at The Bayou Club on Monday, April 15th at 8:00 a.m.

Maya Cote of Saint Leo, the No. 117 ranked GolfStat player in Division II, holds on to the championship lead by two strokes. Cote shot an even-par (72) on Tuesday afternoon and is one round closer to becoming the first Lion to win the SSC Championship since Marie Coors in 2016. Tampa's Ana Maria Jimenez Rios (No. 13 nationally) sits in solo second place at 1-over following a 71 (1-under) in round two. Barry's Daniella Ballesteros  (No. 18 nationally) and Nova Southeastern's Maia Samuelsson (No. 16 nationally) are tied for third place at 4-over. Seven players are in a fifth-place 5-over log jam, including Barry's Tereza Zavrelova (No. 18 nationally), who jumped 18 spots on the leaderboard following round two. Zavrelova carded the tournament's lowest round thus far, a 2-under, 70. Carla Alvarez Perez (No. 24 nationally) of Rollins made the largest jump in the field on day two, up 19 spots to a five-way tie for 15th.

Saint Leo took over first place in team competition with three athletes in the Top-15. The Lions finished round two at 10-over (298) and are 29-over for the tournament (605). Nova Southeastern and Lynn are tied for second at 33-over (609). Barry made the biggest jump, up three posts to tie for sixth, following a 6-over performance (298) in round two.

Barry's 6-over team performance on day two stands as tied for the 23rd-best round in tournament history.

The average scoring for day two at The Bayou Club was 77.46, nearly 1.5 strokes better than round one (78.94).

The Par-4 fourth hole has played the hardest of the tournament over the first two rounds (+0.76).

Ericsson and Jimenez Rios are the only two golfers to record an Eagle in the tournament and both came in round one. Jimenez Rios aced the par 3 third, while Ericsson scored a three on the par 5 10th.

Ericsson (T5th) looks to become the 11th SSC women's golfer with three or more Top-5 finishes at the championship.
