OCALA, Fla. –The First day of the 2024 Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championships began with a record being broken in both the men's 800 Freestyle Relay. In both the men's and women's standings, Nova Southeastern scored 62 points each as both broke the Sunshine State Conference records in the event.
CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL
Top Performances: The team of Emilia Ronningdale, Rafaela Raurich, Llaria Murzill, and Emily Trieschmann were the stars for the Sharks tonight with an SSC 2023-24 top time in the 800 Freestyle Relay, finishing the race in a time of 7:13.27, just 0.35 seconds off from breaking the Division II NCAA Record & SSC Record of 7:12.96.
On the men's side, Nova Southeastern picked up the win with a new SSC Record time of 6:25.49, beating the previous time of 6:27.73. The quartet to set the new record consisted of Thomas Flower, Keith Peristerdis, Luca Alessandrini, and Marcel Snitko.
The championship resumes on Thursday, February 15th at 10:00 AM with Day 2 prelims.
