BOCA RATON. Fla. - Lynn men's soccer defeated Clayton State 2-1 in its quarterfinal matchup on Saturday afternoon. Dominik N'gatie's golden goal in the first overtime punched a ticket to Lynn's ninth Final Four appearance in program history.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- 2024 SSC Goalkeeper of the Year, Luca Clavero, made a goal-stopping save in the opening minutes of the first half
- Lynn had two opportunities in front of the net by Tony Gomez and Jan Rohrling between minutes 11:31 and 12:47
- The match remained scoreless at the half after back-to-back opportunities by Anton Mand and Luis Kiefer were off-target
- Fynn Friedrichs took the opening shot of the second half that went over the crossbar
- Gomez struck the woodwork off a deflection in the 75th minute that led to a Fighting Knight corner kick
- Fabian Vyhnalek took an inswinging corner kick to the middle of the box that found the head of Gomez and scored the opening goal with less than 15 minutes left
- Just four minutes later, in the 80th minute, a pass into the penalty area resulted in the Lakers' equalizer, 1-1
- Just one minute into overtime, N'gatie received a through ball from Vyhnalek
- He took a touch on his left foot and aimed for the top right corner of the net to win the game
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS: 
- N'gatie is tied with Kiefer for Lynn's top scorer with six goals this season
- Gomez notched his fifth goal of the year
- Vyhnalek now has 11 assists in 2024
- Clavero is the highest ranked keeper in the nation with a .49 goal against average
- Lynn is ranked 10th nationally in assists per game with a 2.37 average
- The Blue and White are also ranked 8th nationally in assists with 47 in 20 games
- Lynn remains undefeated in its appearances against Clayton State (3-0-1)
UP NEXT:
- Lynn will travel to Matthews, N.C. to play in the 2024 NCAA Division II Tournament Semifinals on December 12 against McKendree.
