RESULTS: 2024 Men's & Women's NCAA Cross Country South Regional

Two teams and three individuals will represent the SSC at the Division II National Championships

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Florida Southern College's Christian Giller, Palm Beach Atlantic University's Pierre Mercier and Dominyka Petraskaite, the University of Tampa women's cross country team, and the Palm Beach Atlantic women's cross country team will represent the Sunshine State Conference at the 2024 NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships. The National Championship race will be held in Sacramento, California on Saturday, November 23. 

MEN'S RACE - Full Results

Giller, the SSC champion and Runner of the Year in the conference, paced all SSC runners, finishing second in a time of 30:38.31. The performance marks his second top-10 finish at the regionals after he finished seventh last season. Palm Beach Atlantic's Pierre Mercier finished seventh with a time of 31:15.44. Mercier qualifies for the National Championship as the second-best finishing runner not on a qualifying team.

Florida Southern was the best-placing SSC team, finishing fourth with 91 points. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University finished fifth, the University of Tampa finished sixth, and Palm Beach Atlantic finished seventh. Florida Tech also finished in the top 10, netting 312 points for a ninth-place finish. Finishing outside the top 3, these teams will need to wait and see if they're chosen as at-large bids.

WOMEN'S RACE - Full Results

Two SSC teams have qualified for the National Championship. After finishing as the runner-up at the SSC Championship, Tampa finished as the runner-up in the South Region, finishing with a total of 79 points. They were followed by SSC champion Nova Southeastern who finished third with 120 points. Florida Southern finished fifth, Plam Beach Atlantic finished seventh, and Embry-Riddle finished eighth.

SSC champion Jillian Thorning of Nova Southeastern was the top-finishing SSC runner, taking fourth place in a time of 21:14.65. Her teammate, Leena Saidi finished ninth in 21:56.20. Lindsey Volkman of Tampa also finished in the top 10, taking ninth in a time of 21:57.13. Palm Beach Atlantic's Dominyka Petraskaite finished 11th in 22:08.59 and qualifies for the National Championship race as an individual.
