Ten SSC members represented as 33 men are named All-Conference

MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference recognizes thirty-three men's soccer student-athletes as All-Conference for the 2024 season. Lynn, the SSC Regular Season Champion, boasts 11 award winners, including Defensive Player of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, and Coaching Staff of the Year. Voting for the awards is conducted among the league's men's soccer coaches.

Jorge Lameiras, a forward from Rollins, is honored as Offensive Player of the Year. The senior from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, leads the league in goals (11), goals per game (0.92), points (25), points per game (2.08), shots on goal (25), and shots on goal per game (2.08). In SSC play, Lameiras tallied six goals, including two game-winners, in just seven games. Lameiras becomes the fourth Tar to win the award1.

Lynn's Henry Haferkorn garners Defensive Player of the Year accolades. The graduate student from Dattenn, Germany, led the Fighting Knights defense that allowed the fewest goals in SSC play (6) and ended the regular season with five conference shutouts. Haferkorn played 1150 minutes for Lynn over 13 games and tallied a pair of goals, including a game-winner. Haferkorn is the seventh Fighting Knight named Defensive Player of the Year in men's soccer2.

Luca Clavero becomes Lynn's first Goalkeeper of the Year award winner. The junior from Sevilla, Spain, recorded eight shutouts, including five in conference, in 15 games. He led the SSC in goals against average (.600) and save percentage (.763). He allowed just nine scores in 1,350 minutes in net, leading the Fighting Knights to the program's 13 wins.

Embry-Riddle’s Fabian Hilpert gathers Freshman of the Year honors for 2024. The forward from The Hague, Netherlands, started 14 games and played nearly 1000 minutes for the Eagles this season. Hilpert tops the SSC ranking in game-winning goals (4). He’s also Top-3 in goals (9), shots on goal (21), shots on goal per game (1.40), goals per game (0.60), and points (20). Hilpert is the first ERAU men’s soccer athlete to earn a major conference award.

Lynn's coaches earn SSC Coaching Staff of the Year3, following the program’s 11th regular-season championship. The Fighting Knights’ staff, led by head coach John Rootes, guided the program to a 13-0-2 overall record with an 8-0-2 mark in conference play. Lynn leads SSC play in goals against (6), scoring margin (1.4), and save percentage (.750). The Fighting Knights have also held the United Soccer Coaches’ No. 1 ranking for eight consecutive weeks.

Lameiras, Haferkorn, and Clavero highlight the repeat All-SSC winners. Lameiras replicates his First Team All-SSC performance from 2023, while Haferkorn and Clavero moved up from last year's Third Team selections. In total, nine athletes repeat as all-conference.
