Women’s Championship Recap
NSU’s fifth Top-5 performance at the NCAA meet would be the one in which they finally broke through. The Sharks’ eight individual championships and three relay championships are the most for any SSC program in the NCAA finals. For the first time in SSC history, three teams finished Top-10 at the national meet. Following NSU in the standings was Lynn in seventh place and Tampa in 10th place.
The Sharks' excellent finish was helped by three individual titles from Emily Trieschmann in the 500, 1000, and 1650 Free. Trieschmann is the first SSC men's or women's swimmer to win NCAA individual trophies since the league began sponsoring the sport in 2010-11. The only student-athletes from SSC schools before the sport's adoption by the SSC to win three trophies at a championship were Tampa's Chelsea Hastings (2005) and Lauren Atteberry (1988). NSU's Savanna Best and Emilia Ronningdal also collected multiple individual titles. Best took home the 100 and 200 Breaststroke trophies, and Ronningdal won the 200 IM and 200 Free.

CSCAA All-American Selection Criteria
All-Americans are selected on the basis of their finish at the NCAA Division II National Championship and a team's current membership with the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). Only student-athletes who competed in their championship finals are eligible for All-America Honors. As of 2017, the performance criteria for selection are first through eighth in individual events, and relays are named First Team, while Second Team honorees finished ninth through 16th.
