DAY 4 RECAP: 2023 Sunshine State Conference Swim Championship

Three meet records and two Conference record were set

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The fourth day of the 2023 Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championships concluded with the Nova Southeastern women maintaining its lead on the top of the standings and Tampa leading the way on the men's side. Overall, three meet records and one SSC record were set.

Top Performances:

Nova Southeastern had the first gold of day four as Emily Trieschmann would break the meet record in the 500 free at 4:46.29. Mollie Morfelt earned the Sharks second gold of the night in the 100 back touching the wall at 54.17. Savanna Best would break the conference and meet record in the 100 breast for the Sharks with her time of 1:00.30. Luna Mertins placed first in the 200 fly with her time of 1:58.43. The Tampa quartet of Roma Vrijhof, Tilde Morin, Sophie Frece, and Emily Van de Wiele made the cut for Nationals with their time of 1:32.19.

On the men’s side, Hayden Curley opened up the competition on day four with a first place finish in the 500 free at 4:21.52. Daniel Aizenberg of Florida Tech would touch the wall first in the 100 back at 47.56. Matteo Zampese earned first place honors in the 100 breast for Florida Southern with his time of 53.55. Tampa’s Santi Corredor would shatter the meet record in the 200 fly, touching the wall at 1:45.18. The Sharks took first in the 200 free relay at 1:19.73, while Florida Southern and Tampa tied for second at 1:20.00 to all make the cut for Nationals.
