Several conference and meet records fall during day three of the SSC Championship

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The third day of the 2023 Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championships concluded with Nova Southeastern extending their lead on the top of the standings for both men and women. The Sharks turned in four first-place finishes throughout the night.

Top Performances:

In women's competition, Lynn’s Luna Mertins set a meet record touching the wall at 53.19 in the 100 fly. May Lowy would break her own meet record and conference record at 4:12.74 in the 400 IM. Making the cut to Nationals was Nova Southeastern’s, Emily Trieschmann at 1:47.53 in the 200 free. Nova Southeastern’s 400 medley relay team of Mollie Morfelt, Savanna Best, Aleksandra Maslova, and Emilia Ronningdal would make the cut for Nationals with their time of 3:37.53.

Steven Aimable started the morning shattering the conference record during the 100 fly prelims with his time of 46.31. Aimable would take gold in the 100 fly finals at 46.52. Tampa’s Santi Corredor would set a new conference record and meet record in the 400 IM with his time of 3:45.75. Thomas Flower of Nova Southeastern set a new conference and meet record at 1:34.43. The 400 medley relay featured three teams making the cut for nationals with Nova Southeastern leading the charge at 3:12.22, Florida Southern placing second at 3:13.27, and Tampa taking bronze at 3:14.16.
