Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of November 20 - 26, 2023. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.

Men's Basketball Player of the Week

Grant Disken - Saint Leo
Senior - Guard - Park Hills, Kentucky


Disken is named Player of the Week after leading Saint Leo to wins over No. 10 North Georgia and Catawba at the FSC Mocs Thanksgiving Classic. The Park Hills, Kentucky guard tallied 10 points, three assists, and two rebounds as the Lions handed No. 10 UNG its first loss of 2023-24 (78-74). Disken then scored 34 points in a win over Catawba (89-75). He also gave the Lions three assists, a rebound, and a steal in the victory. His 34 points against Catawba stand as the second most among SSC players in a game this season. He totaled 44 points by shooting 58% from the field (15-26), 55% from behind the arc (6-11), and 80% from the free-throw line (8-10). Disken averaged 22.0 points, 3.0 assists, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.0 turnovers while playing 29.5 minutes per game.

Defensive Player of the Week

Cantia Rahming - Saint Leo
Senior - Forward - Tampa, Florida


Rahming collects Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Saint Leo's wins over No. 10 North Georgia and Catawba at the FSC Mocs Thanksgiving Classic. The senior from Tampa registered two blocks, three steals, and nine defensive rebounds in a win over No. 10 North Georgia (78-74). Rahming followed with a block, a steal, and 15 defensive rebounds in a victory against Catawba (89-75). Rahming was the leading rebound in both contests, totaling 14 against UNG and 18 against Catawba. Offensively, the forward scored 20 points, pulled down eight offensive rebounds, and recorded seven assists.
 


Women's Basketball Player of the Week

Audrey Ramsey - Tampa
Grad Student - Guard - Boca Raton, Florida


Ramsey garners Player of the Week after leading Tampa to a 2-0 showing at the Angelo State Thanksgiving Tournament. The Boca Raton, Florida native opened the event with 15 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, and a block as the Spartans took down Midwestern State (68-57). Ramsey followed with a game-high 29 points and a team-high nine rebounds in a 63-53 win over Angelo State. Her performance against ASU is the highest-scoring game for an SSC player this season. She totaled 44 points by shooting 52% from the field (16-31), 54% from 3PT (7-13), and 100% from the line (5-5). She averaged 22.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.0 steals while playing 36.5 minutes per game.

Women's
Basketball Defensive Player of the Week

Lauryn Vieira - Eckerd
Senior - Guard - Haute-Savoie, France


Vieira receives Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts at the Metro State Thanksgiving Classic. The Haute-Savoie, France native, tallied five steals and four defensive rebounds as the Tritons defeated host Metro State (72-59). The senior followed with four steals and two defensive rebounds in a loss to Colorado Christian (72-67). Offensively, Vieira scored 18 points, dished 17 assists, and pulled in three offensive rebounds. Vieira's steal totals were the tops in both games, leading her to the fifth Defensive Player of the Week award of her career.
