Course Information
Opened in 1990, the Grasslands was designed by Jerry Pate & Bob Cupp and restored in 2008 by the Jerry Pate Design Group. The greens were converted to "Champion" ultra-dwarf Bermuda grass, the tee boxes were rebuilt, and the entire course underwent irrigation, drainage, bunkerwork and beautification changes.
The Club also has a history of hosting professional tournaments. Currently a host site for PGA Tour's Web.com Qualifying, stage one, Grasslands was also the site of the former Nike, now Web.Com Tour, event the "Lakeland Classic" and the NFPGA Tour & Club Professional Invitational. Our distinguished golfing members include two Champions Tour and one LPGA Tour player. Golf Digest Magazine has rated Grasslands as one of the top clubs in the nation with the "Best Players".

SSC golfers will play from the course's Black Tees, which have a course rating of 74.6 and a slope rating of 134. The championship will play 3,496 yards on the front par 36 and 3,665 yards on the back par 36 for a total of 7,16 yards and par 72.

Fan Information
Parents and friends are welcome to follow players throughout the tournament, per NCAA guidelines. Spectators must remain on the cart path and may use carts only if medically required. Spectators who are walking must either stay on the cart paths or in the rough at least 50 yards away from players at all times.
Communication between spectators and players is prohibited and may result in a penalty to the player as it can be seen by a third party (fellow competitor or a coach from another team) as giving advice to the player.
The penalty for a player asking for and/or receiving advice from a spectator is two strokes under rule 8-1.
The definition of advice is "advice is any counsel or suggestion that could influence a player in determining his play, the choice of a club or the method of making a stroke."

SSC Tournament Quick Facts...
The tournament returns to a 54-hole format over three days after a temporary format in 2021 of 54-holes in two days.
- 2022 marks the 40th men's tournament for the conference. the 2020 tournament was canceled due to COVID-19
- Lynn has the chance to repeat as SSC champions, which would be the first instance since the Fighting Knights went back-to-back in 2015 and 2016. Lynn also looks to have back-to-back individual champions (Agustin Errazuriz). They would be the first school since Nova Southeastern's back-to-back winners in 2012-13 (Ben Taylor & Ricardo Celia)
- The individual record for a three-round tournament is 12-under achieved by Kyle Brey, Barry (2017 - Duran), and Steve Paramore, Florida Southern (2003 - Rio Pinar)
- The individual record for a single round is 7-under. Four golfers have reached the mark, most recently by Agustin Errazuriz of Lynn (2019 - Lake Jovita - Third Round)
- The Team record for a three-round tournament is 20-under, achieved by Barry in 2019 at Lake Jovita.
- The Team record for a single round is 16-under, achieved by Florida Tech in 2018 at Grande Oaks (Third Round)
SSC Men's National Championship Quick Facts...
- Men's golf teams have won 25 national championships. The most in any sport sponsored by the SSC
- Lynn captured the SSC's most recent titles, going back-to-back in 2018 & 2019.
- Florida Southern's Michael VanDerLaan won the 2019 individual title. He's the 14th golfer from the SSC to win it all. He followed his brother John who won the title for FSC in 2018
- SSC schools have won the last eight of the last nine NCAA titles; an SSC school was also runner-up four times during that span
- FSC's 13 national titles are the most by any conference team in any sport.
- Tampa's Jeff Leonard became the first 2-time individual national champion (1987 & 88). FSC's Tim Crouch became the fourth and latest (2013 & 14)

Recent SSC Golf History
In 2019, Lynn repeated as Team National Champions and Florida Southern's Michael VanDerLaan followed in his brother's footsteps by winning the NCAA Division II individual title. John VanDerLaan (FSC) won it all in 2018. The VanDerLaan brothers became the 13th and 14th individual champs from the SSC. Lynn's second title brings the conference total to 25.
Florida Southern men's golf claimed the 2017 national title. Saint Leo won in 2016 marking the win the university's first team national championship in any sport. Nova Southeastern defeated Lynn in the 2015 NCAA Championship to win its second in four years. Between NSU's titles, Barry went back-to-back defeating Nova Southeastern (2014) and Lynn (2013).
