2022 SSC Men’s Golf All-Conference Awards
MELBOURNE, Fla. - Ten student-athletes have been named to the 2022 All-Sunshine State Conference men's golf teams. AJ Ewart of Barry University is awarded Golfer of the Year, Nova Southeastern University's Josep Serra is named Freshman of the Year, and Barry’s Jimmy Stobs is honored as Coach of the Year. Voting for the All-SSC men's golf awards was conducted among the league's men's golf coaches.
SSC Men's Golf All-Conference History: All-SSC Teams | Golfers & Coaches of the Year
Ewart, a junior from Coquitlam, British Columbia, is awarded conference Golfer of the Year following six first-place finishes and nine Top-5 finishes in 2021-22. Through 10 tournaments and thirty rounds this year, Ewart has recorded a scoring average of 69.40, which is best in the SSC by over two strokes. He is the fourth Barry athlete to win SSC Men's Golfer of the Year and the first since 2019
1. Currently, he is ranked 170th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
Serra, a product of Terrassa, Spain, logged a 72.53 scoring average across 30 rounds on his way to Freshman of the Year accolades. He appeared in 10 events for Nova Southeastern in 2021-22, finishing Top-6 four times. He is the sixth in program history to win Freshman of the Year and the second consecutive

Stobs is awarded SSC Coach of the Year for the third time in his career
3. Under his leadership, the 2021-22 Buccaneers won eight tournaments, including the program’s fifth conference championship
4. Additionally, his squad holds the top position in the Golf Coaches Association of America and GolfStat rankings. Stobs remains the only Barry skipper to earn Coach of the Year honors in men's golf.
Ewart highlights the repeat All-SSC honorees with back-to-back First Team All-SSC honors. Javier Calles of Nova Southeastern finds the First Team after winning Second Team and Freshman of the Year accolades in 2021. Alberto Castagnara of Saint Leo University records his third All-SSC honor, this year jumping to the First Team after Second Team laurels in 2018 and 2019. Castagnara was also Freshman of the Year in 2018.
