NSU women, FSC Men crowned champs

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The 2022 Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championships have come to an end after an exciting weekend. On the men's side, Florida Southern was crowned SSC Champions after starting off the day second in the standings. This is the fifth time that the Mocs have been crowned SSC Champions and is their first since 2016. On the women's side, Nova Southeastern was able to notch their sixth SSC Championship. This is now the program's fourth championship in the last six years. Two meet records and one Conference Record were set on the night.

Top Performances:

Overall for the championship, nine meet records and one Conference Record were set on the men's side. On the women's side, nine meet records were broken, along with seven Conference Records.
NSU swimmer Savanna Best was named Female Swimmer of the Meet. On the night, she set a meet record in the Women's 200 Breast with a time of 2:11.64. Luca Alessandrini of NSU was named Male Swimmer of the Meet. He set a meet record for the men in the 1650 Free with a time of 15:18.07.

In women's competition, Estelle Bauer of NSU took home gold in the 1650 Free with a time of 16:58.95. Florida Southern's Jazzy Hoffman took home gold in the 100 Free after a time of 50.18. In the 200 Back, Celina Marquez of NSU set a Conference Record with a time of 1:54.54. Savanna Best won the 200 Breast and set a meet record with a final time of 2:11.64. UT took home gold in the 400 Free Relay with a time of 3:24.08.

The first three races on the men's side were all won by NSU. Luca Alessandrini kicked off the night on the men's side with a meet record in the 1650 Free with a time of 15:18.07. Anton Mueller followed with gold in the 100 Free with a 43.56 time. Jarryd Baxter then took home gold in the 200 Yard Back with a final time of 1:44.21. Ludovico Viberti of FSC took gold in the 200 Breast with the time 1:56.62. FSC would finish the night champions after a win in the 400 Free Relay with a time of 2:55.16.
