Michelle Frew won 878 games in her career as the head coach of Rollins Softball

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Tars' all-time winningest coach, Michelle Frew, announced that she is retiring from the Rollins softball program immediately.

Speaking to the Rollins softball family, "It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing that I am retiring from coaching at Rollins. It is time that I move on. This was a very difficult decision as this has been my family's life for such a long time," said coach Frew. "I am forever grateful for the opportunity to coach alongside my husband, Steve, every step of the way. Both Steve and I have given so much to this program, and now, it is time to give more to our family."

"I am very proud of where we have taken this program. Together, we have all built something really special. Beyond the championships and a nationally recognized softball program, I will forever cherish all the friendships that we made along the way, but I am most proud of seeing our players grow into amazing, successful young women. I have been blessed to serve as coach and mentor to some of the finest student-athletes at our school and developed life-long relationships off the softball field and beyond their graduation."

Frew, who amassed 1,009 wins over her 29 years as a head coach at Rollins, Edison Community College (Florida Southwestern College, Ft. Myers, Florida), and Lely High School (Naples, Florida.), has 878 career wins for the Tars. She currently ranks among the best DII coaches in the NCAA record book. Coach Frew added, "I would like to thank Rollins College and all of my wonderful colleagues for giving me and my family so many special memories over the years. I wish Rollins Softball continued success! Go Tars!"

Rollins Director of Athletics Pennie Parker added, "I want to thank Michelle for her years of service to Rollins. The Frews' dedication to the Rollins softball program has been unmatched. All of Rollins Athletics wishes her nothing but the best as she enters the next chapter of her life."
