Twelve SSC Swim Programs, 37 Athletes Earn Spring 2021 Scholar Honors from CSCAA
MELBOURNE, Fla. - Twelve Sunshine State Conference swim teams and 37 student-athletes earn Spring 2021 scholar accolades from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. In all, the CSCAA announced that 721 teams and 789 athletes across the NCAA are Scholar All-Americans.
Florida Southern College women's swimming registered the highest GPA in the SSC at 3.68, followed closely by Lynn University women's swimming with a 3.66 GPA. FSC also paced the men's teams by earning a 3.59 GPA. To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher over the Spring semester.
Twenty men and women from the SSC earned CSCAA First Team Scholar All-America accolades in 2020-21. The award recognizes athletes with a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and participated in the Division II National Championship. Additionally, seventeen athletes have been named honorable mention Scholar All-America, which recognizes a GPA of 3.50 or above and a "B" time standard or competition in regional or zone qualifying meet. The University of Tampa leads the SSC with 17 honorees, followed by Nova Southeastern University with 10.
