WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic's Alex Aken was named to the Academic All-America Division II At-Large teams announced by CoSIDA on Thursday. Aken, who represents the Sailfish men's lacrosse team, was named to the men's third team.

Despite the cancellation of spring competition during COVID-19, CoSIDA continued its sponsorship of the Academic All-America awards program. Student-athletes were selected based on career statistics. To be eligible, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher.

Aken has been a key part in building the culture of the PBA men's lacrosse program which just completed its third year of competition. He appeared in every game for the Sailfish over the last three seasons. The defender led the 'Fish with 60 ground balls in 2018 and finished second on the team in ground balls with 68 in 2019. In the shortened 2020 season, he picked up 20 ground balls and netted the first goal of his collegiate career. He is majoring in Ministry at PBA.

Aken is one of two SSC student-athletes to appear on the men's teams. He becomes the eighth PBA student-athlete and first member of Sailfish men's lacrosse to earn Academic All-America status.
