MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference recognizes thirteen men's basketball student-athletes as All-SSC in 2019-20. Florida Southern College, regular-season champions, boasts six All-SSC awards, including Player of the Year and Coach of the Year.
Brett Hanson of Florida Southern College collects SSC Player of the Year accolades. The 6-2 guard led FSC to the program's best record since 2014-15, a regular-season title, and home-court advantage throughout the conference tournament. The senior from Manchester, New Hampshire ranks first in SSC points scored (617), second in points per game (22.0), third in steals per game (2.1), fifth in assists per game (4.6), and seventh in minutes played per game (34.9)

FSC's Mike Donnelly has been recognized by his peers as the conference Coach of the Year. Following an 18-2 conference record, Donnelly and the Moccasins captured the program's first SSC regular-season title since 2014-15, 24th overall. This year's FSC team scored 93.2 points per game with an 11.3 turnover margin on the way to a 26-2 overall regular-season record. The award is the first for Donnelly and the 16th for Florida Southern

Jalyn Hinton becomes the second in Florida Southern history to win Defensive Player of the Year honors in men’s basketball
4. The junior forward from Boston is ranked first nationally in blocks (89) and blocks per game (3.56). He also provides the Moccasins with 15.2 points and 8.9 rebounds per game

Romeo Crouch earns Newcomer of the Year accolades, marking the first time an Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University student-athlete has won the award. The junior guard from Titusville, Florida, averaged 19.4 points, 5.9 assists, 3.1 steals, and 32.9 minutes per game for the Eagles

R.J. Sunahara from Nova Southeastern University takes Freshman of the Year honors after averaging 13.2 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. The forward from Bay Village, Ohio, is third in conference field goal percentage (.627) and fourth in blocks per game (1.7)

Joining Hanson and Crouch on the First Team is Mark Matthews (Nova Southeastern), Tylan Birts (Barry University), and Luka Majstorovic (ERAU). Hanson earns his third consecutive All-SSC honor, while Matthews is the only SSC athlete to repeat as a First Team selection. Derek Murphy (Florida Tech) and Kyran McClure (Saint Leo) repeat as Second Team honorees from last year.
All-conference selections and individual award winners are determined by vote of Sunshine State Conference head coaches with oversight and approval from member institution Athletic Directors.
