WINTER PARK, Fla. – Rollins junior pitcher Garrett Leonard was named First Team Google Cloud Academic All-America, it was announced Wednesday.

Minutes after the naming of the Academic All-America team, Leonard was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 15th round of the Major League Baseball draft.
Leonard carries a perfect 4.0 GPA in Business Management through his first six semesters of college. The Fort Mill, S.C. native has landed on the Rollins Athletic Director's Honor Roll and Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll each of the last three years.
On the field, Leonard made 16 appearances this season, going 2-3 with a 3.95 ERA in 68.1 innings. He racked up 75 strikeouts, averaging 9.88 per nine innings. Opponents hit just .234 against the right hander, the sixth best mark in the Sunshine State Conference.
Leonard is the 42nd Academic All-American in Rollins history and the 10th to garner First Team honors. He joins Rocky Contreras ('92), Jason Cloar ('01, '02, '03) and Nick Adams as Tars baseball players on the list.
