Seventeen Student-Athletes Named All-SSC in Men’s Tennis for 2016
MELBOURNE, Fla. – Seventeen student-athletes have been named to the 2016 All-Sunshine State Conference Men’s Tennis Team, it was announced Friday. Saint Leo’s Alberto Barroso-Campos earns Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year. Chris Frusci of Saint Leo was voted Coach of the Year.
Voting for the All-SSC Men’s Tennis Team was conducted among the league’s women’s tennis coaches.

Barroso-Campos, a freshman from Montijo, Spain, is awarded SSC Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors. Barroso-Campos finished the regular season with a 21-2 singles record, all at the number one position. In doubles he tallied a 23-2 overall record in doubles with teammate Alex Theiler. Barroso-Campos becomes the second SSC men’s tennis athlete to win Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year in the same season (Ahmed Triki, Barry – 2014).
Frusci is awarded Coach of the Year by his peers after leading Saint Leo to its first conference tournament and regular season championships in program history. The Lions went 22-1 overall, 6-0 in SSC play during the regular season and have earned a hosting bid for the NCAA regional. Frusci is the first Saint Leo tennis coach to earn Coach of the Year accolades.
Ahmed Triki (Barry), Alex Theiler (Saint Leo), and Anton Bettink (Rollins) repeat as first team singles members from 2015. Triki and teammate Nico Dreer were selected to the first team in 2014. Pavel Mojha (Lynn) reaches the first team after second team selections in 2015 and 2013.
