SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Florida Southern senior guard Dylan Travis has been selected to play in the 2016 Reese's Division II College All-Star Game that will be played in conjunction with the Elite Eight at Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas, on Friday, March 25.
The players for the annual Division II All-Star Game are selected by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
This year's All-Star Game will be played on the day between the national semifinals and championship games with tip-off scheduled for 8 p.m. Eastern.
The 2016 Reese's® Division II College All-Star Game will have two teams of 10 senior student-athletes. Two student-athletes are selected from each of the eight regions in NCAA Division II with the four remaining selections made at-large.
The coaches for the this year's game are former Pittsburg State head coach Gene Iba and former Northeastern State head coach Larry Gipson.
Travis becomes the first Moccasin selected to play in the Division II College All-Star Team since Rion Rayfield was selected to play in the 2011 game, which was held at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mo.
As a senior in 2015-16, Travis led the Mocs and was second in the Sunshine State Conference in scoring as he averaged 21.5 points per game and also averaged 7.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists and an SSC-best 2.1 steals per game. In addition, he shot 45 percent from the field, 40 percent from the 3-point line and 84 percent from the free throw line. Travis, who was named a First-Team All-SSC selection, scored in double figures in 24 games and had 17 games of scoring 20 or more points, including a team leading two games of scoring 30 or more points.
The Omaha, Neb., native, also finished the season with five double-doubles, including recording the first-ever triple-double in the 89 year history of the program as he had 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against Miles on Dec. 20. He finished his career with 931 points, 315 rebounds, 193 assists and 105 steals and was 244-for-299 (81.6 percent) from the free throw line in his two-year Moccasin career.
Travis and his all-star teammates will be introduced during the under 16 minute media timeout of the second semifinal game of the Elite Eight on March 24.
