2015 Men’s and Women’s Tennis NCAA Preliminary Qualifiers Announced

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The NCAA announced the field of 48 men’s teams and 48 women’s teams that will compete in the NCAA Division II Tennis preliminary rounds. The Sunshine State Conference had eight teams total (4 men, 4 women) selected to extend their seasons into the NCAA tournament.

 

Barry’s men’s team goes into the tournament as the number one seed and will serve as the host institution with the opening round beginning on May 3rd.

 

The Buccaneers will be joined by SSC members Lynn (3), Saint Leo (4), and Rollins (6) that will make up four of the seven teams in this year’s south region.

 

South Region
1. Barry (21-0) (Sunshine State Conference Champions)

2. West Florida (23-3) (Gulf South Conference Champions)
3. Lynn (15-4)
4. Saint Leo (13-5)
5. Valdosta State (15-7)
6. Rollins (14-9)
7. Benedict (14-7) (Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Champions)

For the women’s tournament, Barry will be the number two seed and will play host for the first and second rounds which will begin on May 4th.

 

Barry will be joined by conference opponents Saint Leo (3), Nova Southeastern (4), and Lynn (5) to give the SSC four out of the six spots in this year’s south region.

Both the men’s and women’s NCAA tennis finals will be taking place in Surprise, Arizona from May 13-16. The team that wins each region will represent that region as one of the final eight schools.
