Bookmark and Share

The SSC was well represented in the recent Major League Baseball draft, as 17 student-athletes who competed on conference rosters were drafted to hone their talent at the next level.

Tampa led all SSC schools with a total of nine draftees.  Florida Southern had three of its players' names called, while Eckerd had two.  Barry, Lynn, and Rollins each placed one student-athlete in the big leagues.

Florida Southern right-handed pitcher Daniel Tillman was the highest SSC player taken in the draft, going as the 81st pick in the second round to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.  Tillman's teammate, left-handed hurler Max Russell, also went to the Angels in the fourth round (144th).  Lynn right-hander Tommy Kahnle (5th round/175th), Tampa leftfielder Jared Simon (6th round/200th), and Tampa right-handed pitcher Josh Bowman (10th round/305th) were also selected in the first 10 rounds.

A complete summary of all SSC players taken in the draft appears below.
