Dr. Frank Webbe | Florida Tech | Faculty Athletics Representative | 1983 - 2020

Dr. Frank Webbe, served as a professor of Psychology at the Florida Institute of Technology for 42 years and 37 years as the first Faculty Athletic Representative in Florida Tech Athletics history where he played a critical role ensuring the university was compliant with NCAA bylaws and provided a quality scholar-athlete experience.
 
His academic work was focused on the advancement of research in sport psychology and concussion management which led to developing the Florida Tech Sport-Related Concussion Project and Concussion Management Program. He served as director of the program which identifies and confirms when concussions occur and establishes a set of procedures for scholar-athlete recovery and return to competition.

He served as President of the Society for Sport, Exercise, & Performance Psychology of the American Psychological Association, while serving as charter member, treasurer and executive board member of the National Sports Neuropsychology Society.
 
Dr. Webbe represented the university on numerous NCAA national committees including the Faculty Athletic Representative Association (FARA) as the Division II President, Division II Vice President, and as a representative, with his primary focus to improve the collegiate experience for thousands of scholar-athletes around the country. He also worked on the organizing committee for the Division II Faculty Athletic Representative Fellows Institute and the Advanced Leadership Institute and served on the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Regional Selection Committee.

Dr. Webbe was appointed in 2009 by Governor Charlie Crist to the 10-member Alzheimer’s Disease Advisory Committee of the State of Florida and reappointed to a second term by Governor Rick Scott in 2012.
 
In 2018, Dr. Webbe was selected as the recipient of the NCAA David Knight Award, which is presented to an individual who has provided outstanding service to FARA and collegiate athletics. In 2020, he was inducted into the Florida Tech Athletics Hall of Fame.
