Jarrett Slaven | University of Tampa | Cross Country Coach | 1999 - 2021

Jarrett Slaven spent 23 years at the University of Tampa, turning a walk-on program into a heavily recruited, nationally ranked program. Slaven coached both men's and women's cross country & track at UT from 1999 to 2015. He then made the women's program his sole focus until his retirement in 2021.
 
Under his guidance, the Spartan women won 16 conference titles and captured the school's first-ever NCAA II South Regional title in 2004. The 16-time SSC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year piloted his team to 10 straight NCAA Championship Meet appearances while making 14 consecutive NCAA South Regionals, winning the past eight.
 
Slaven led the men to the first SSC meet title in 2011 and laid the foundation for a men's program, which has competed in 12 consecutive NCAA South Regionals. Slaven collected SSC Men's Coach of the Year honors and guided his teams to NCAA Championship appearances in 2007 and 2011.
 
He steered the women's program to 58 All-SSC honors, 48 First Team Honorees, 11 SSC Runner of the Year accolades, and four South Region Runner of the Year honors. On the men's side, 17 First Team selections, 28 total All-SSC award winners, and two Runner of the Year honors. He also coached six individuals to All-American honors..
 
The UT women were nationally ranked for 11 consecutive seasons and ranked as high as 10th in the country, coming in 2004. The Spartans first appeared at the NCAA II Championship meet in 2003, finishing eighth overall. UT finished Top-10 at the NCAA Finals three more times, 2004 (eighth), 2007 (tenth), and 2009 (tenth).
