Doug Gordin | Florida Southern College | Men's Golf Coach | 1995 - 2018
Doug Gordin was Florida Southern College’s men’s golf coach from 1995-2018, where he led the Moccasins to six team NCAA Division II National Championships as well as coaching six individual National Champions. A four-time Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) National Coach of the Year, Gordin was inducted into the GCAA Hall of Fame in 2001 and is a member of the Florida Southern College Hall of Fame (2007) as well as the Polk County Sports Hall of Fame (2012). During his 23 years of service, Gordin was a five-time GCAA South Region Coach of the Year.
In his 23 years at the helm, the Mocs qualified for NCAA postseason play every year, while in 18 of those 23 years, Florida Southern had at least one representative in the NCAA Championship Finals. Gordin has seen six of his student-athletes get enshrined into the Florida Southern Hall of Fame, as well as three earn their way into the Sunshine State Conference Hall of Fame in Jeff Klauk, a 2006 inductee, Steve Paramore, a 2011 inductee, and Wayne Raath, a 2009 inductee.
Gordin led the Mocs to seven SSC Championships throughout his time on campus, including the 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2008, and 2010 titles. He also saw six individuals capture SSC Individual Championships, including in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2003, and 2015. He was named SSC Coach of the Year three times (1999, 2001, 2010) while he saw eight different student-athletes earn SSC Male Athlete of the Year. His student-athletes were named SSC Golfer of the Year on 11 different occasions, while Gordin saw five of his recruits earn SSC Freshman of the Year honors.
