Jerry Johnson - Florida Southern College, Basketball
In 1988, Johnson was named NCAA Division II basketball Player of the Year, first team All-American and the Frances P. Naismith award winner as the best college player in any Division under six feet tall. The Miami, FL resident was SSC Player of the Year and the first SSC Male Athlete of the Year. He is the all-time assists leader (768) and all-time steals leader (283) for the Mocs. He also holds single season school records for assists (249) and steals (191). He played in the 1988 NABC EastWest All-Star game. His jersey number was retired by Florida Southern. He was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks of the NBA, and played several years in the CBA and the USBL.
